heh. that reminds me of something, this guy was lecturing about intelligent design, but I can assure the world that there is not much intelligence involved in the design of my knees
Dealing with the eternal login problems I am nearing a point of fed up. We should adopt a set system that we follow every session, by military precision.
Basically we set up a connection list. Meaning:
1. Host sets up.
2. Player A logs in.
3. When player A is in and everything is in order, player B logs in.
And so on and so on. Subs go last, one by one. I say we set up a PERMANENT connection order. If problems occur we know where they are.
ALSO. I am currently talking to people in THREE different chat windows. We should all agree on using ONE chat client. If people use Trillian they can use ANY of the standard chat clients, as long as we all use ONE and the same. We can keep blundering about like we do now or we can get properly organized. If we do things will run alot smoother and problems can be sorted out much easier.
Next week I'll turn my router off immediately.
After I did it this week we could suddenly connect.
Strange thing is that with this configuration (including router) we played a good session last week.
If we can get all players on the testing forum we can try new patches. The problem is that subs can't play with us then.

That is, I quit unless we go german on the whole procedure.
From now on, we log in ONE at a time. Following a PREDETERMINED list. Why? Because IF there is a problem the person who had the problem can then immediately, before doing anything else, get the log and send it to me and Nolan. This will allow us to see the specific problems. The player can then reattempt to log in, but must stop and send logs for each failed attempt. As it is now, people have dozens of logs, and noone knows which one is which problem. This is why we should follow a list.
There is no downside to this in the long run. Eventually it will be routine and it will go smoothly. If there's a problem we file the log, look at it and try to sort it out. We are so dedicated to playing we will put up with anything in the shape of sitting around waiting and trying new things again and again, then we are also so dedicated that we can work by according to a problemsolving manner.
If we implement this things will be a lot easier to sort out and will result in less problems and more game time. If people arent willing to adopt this minor work, which will be very beneficial then I give up. I cant be bothered to sit in the middle of the night hoping that the networking gremlins happen to be looking another way. This can be sorted out by systematically locating the problems, and that can only be done if we work together in an organized and systematic manner.
and if anyone has a problem with omni, or anyone else wanting to go to bed at 4 o clock in the morning which is the agreed endtime, after getting up at 7 the same day, they should learn to take some consideration and show respect for others or I will personally tear them a new one.
Everyone just needs to have more patience. I know tonight was really frustrating. But we have good company, and we all know we can count on each other to show up every week. We've had weeks like this in HOTWV, and it sucks, but it is just inevitably something we have to go through.
I think we just need to accept that sometimes we will have sessions like this.
No matter what, we are still making way more progress in the game than PBEM or Pitboss. So look on the bright side.
