I think you should take Rome its in a much more 'playable' position than Carthage. In fact I would go so far as to say that Carthage might as well get nuked by LzPrst (having played both, I am in a unique position to say this).

I would rather talk to Glohithia about diplo on msn or email than do it myself and have to hand it over anyway.

arent you listening to what I've been saying? I believe Carthage IS playable. all that is required is:

A. Flexibility
B. Good Diplomacy
C. Large Hairy Balls (or tits if you're female)

If I didnt already have a civ I would take carthage and run with it. yes. it is not an ideal starting position. yes there are a lot of obstacles. but there are also numerous advantages that should not be dismissed. Carthage will be challenging, not impossible. I wish someone could play them, it would be a fascinating civ that would require unorthodox strategies.

Yes, I can wipe out/contain Carthage, let the AI rot and die. But I dont want that. First of all because it gives me an unfair advantage. I will have no rival to my north and will get lots of extra land that I was supposed to compete for. Second of all, as I wont wipe out Carthage immediately, the AI might go ape**** do undiplomatic and totally annoying things, like settling on really dumb spots requiring me to burn cities and basically clean up someone elses mess. I want Carthage to prosper. But the Carthagian player has to be able to think outside the box.
Could we possibly get Rasputin in for this session? He wouldnt reel at Carthage's seemingly weak start. If they go for sailing they will be able to get as much land as anyone on the mainland. And being financial they will get a nice cash boost on water tiles = a beeline for Astronomy or similar.

Who is Glohitia btw. Kuno's friend, thrak's friend or ozzy's?

I thought Thrak's friend would take over Rome as they can keep in touch about what to do. Could Kuno and Thrak please declare who they had as potential subs and get them to post here? As soon as possible. Glohitia are you one of those?

My opinion is such. Thrak's friend plays Rome as he would have a close tie to its owner. Whoever else controls Carthage. I really believe that they could be fun to play. And the Vikings are very open to negotiation.

As far as I know the only two subs we have set up for tonight are Kuno's friend and Gohithia who is a fellow Apolytoner and follwer of diplogames.

I agree with Lz that Carthage shouldn't be written off.

If Kuno's friend can take over permanently (it'd be nice if he stopped by here) then perhaps he should take Carthage from now on. And then Glohithia can take Rome since Thrak will be returning in 3 weeks.

I really don't see how I can complain if someone wants to take over rome permanently - I have only played them for one (ebil) week.

Oh and if you think carthage as AI is gonna be a pain, just imagine what an imperialistic Rome AI will do.

I just randomly decided to try to sub this week. I have a cr*p schedule and cant commit to anything more than a week in advance usually, so you cant count on me to do anything permanently.

btw all, I just noticed that Glohithia is an old school diplogamer. Check the DiploFAQ game list. He was the Egyptians in the first game I recorded.

And Thrak, we have 2 subs and 2 open civs, so no one is gonna go AI. It is just a matter of which sub goes where.

All people I have to deal with are Nolan, Ozzy, Kuno and Deity. People that are ALWAYS there, perfect 8)

Im not "calling" anything. I dont know either situation so I dont care. I also cant be a regular, so what Im looking for is somebody to tell me, given my situation, which civ would make more sense for me to play for the betterment of the game.

I PM'ed Thrak to ask if he wanted me to play Rome and for instructions. He said since he has played both, it didnt matter a whole lot. He hasnt passed any instructions on, mainly due to MSN (he has it and I dont).
