How can anyone be worse than Civ4's Montezuma, who always declares war ? Not even Shaka was that mad.
Especially since Civ2's Montezuma was so docile. I guess it makes sense to have insane Aztecs, but maybe not quite THAT insane...

What game do you have installed? Montezuma almost never decleares war... at least not compared to everybody else... only in one game he went mad an decleared war on someone, asked me for help to attack someone else (while being at war with that someone), I refused but he still went to war, and later (while still being at war with two others) he decleared war on me
That only happened in one game though, mostly he's just peacefull (compared to the other leaders)
What game do YOU have installed? I've had Montezuma declare me almost every time I encountered him since back in the beta versions... only in one game, I've managed to have him allied.
Really, if you look at XML, there's no way in hell Montezuma is peaceful. He's only "peaceful" if he's much too weak to stand a chance at war.

New units and other eye candy are all well and good, but "Warlords" will definitely need a major revamp of the combat system in order to coax me to part with my money.

Regardless of whether or not it sucks, I will be buying Warlords. Pathetic, huh.

I'd have to ask you the same question. As far as out of the blue wars are concerned, Montezuma leads the pack as far as I'm concerned. I've had him attack even though his odds of winning even a single city were hopeless.

No, not really. CIV4 is a brilliant game and I'm sure warlords will be a great add-on. The paradox for me is that CIV4's improved combat is a purgatory for me. Its certainly much better than the earlier games but the improvements spotlight where the game should/could be. In earlier versions, I didnt have to play warmonger so combat problems were minimized. In CIV4 I find that the importance of combat is so great that I cannot overlook the problems.
For some reason Civ4 hasn't clicked for me, not the way Civ1-3 has. After a few games, I've set it aside for an old copy of Space Empires 4. Maybe I'll get back to it soon and figure out why I'm not as excited as I should be. Right now, I don't see Warlords making a difference.

I was actually disappointed with Civ3's gameplay. Civ4 has restored my faith in the franchise.

That's a joke right?
In the last game I had him as a neighbour he declared war on me 4 times despite me having a big tech lead. The problem was (I thought) that I didn't have the volume of units he had, because I'd had other issues to deal with. After the first twice I'd just fought him off and captured a couple of his cities. I just built loads and loads of units to prevent him attacking but he still declared war when I had enough to crush him. So I captured his best cities and left him to rot, it did distract me enough to almost lose though.
He is a nutter, always declares war for apparently no reason even if you are going to give him a kicking. And judging by everyone elses post I'm not the only one. If I discover him nearby I know I have to focus more heavily on military early on. He's the most agressive of the lot.

I love him!
Talking about me behind my back again?
