but since you're going to like the game we'd better raise more funds to have another copy
Or you could auction it on eBay
Would Yin give a postal box address where to deliver, I can send him something he might know from Asia.
For me, the question is not whether or not Yin should eat his box... it's whether or not he'll be honest enough to own up to it and do so.
I'm kind of thinking that Yin deciding whether or not he has a box to eat is a lot like a House Republican comission on Katrina... self-grading is rarely fair.

Another question that I am curious about. Could you name some of the posters here whose reviews of Civ4 you would read and pay serious attention to? In other words, which posters do you believe could write reviews that could sway you / make you buy the game?
The three I mentioned just because they came to mind were: Vel, Hex and Korn. I'm telling you, if those three guys wrote reviews, you'd have the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. And I could name many others on Poly who are intelligent posters (I happen to like Darkstar's edge or Adm.Naismith's cheer...and Aro is just always peppy...and Cybershy would probably thank Firaxis for the awesome paper cut he got reading the manual, etc.), but I have to say that Vel, Hex and Korn are the Holy Trinity of Good Sense and Reason.

it's a shame Sid isnt doing a Pirates: San Andreas! expansion....
What's a shame is that "Yin" + "Paris Hilton" + "Video" was recently mentioned in the same paragraph here on Poly, and the only result might well be my having to eat cardboard.

Yin- you sir, have a very twisted view of games. If a professional reviewer can't beat a game easily on Monarch level, then I certainly can't beat the game at Prince level (or Regent or whatever they're calling it in Civ IV)... and that, frankly, is just frustrating.
LOL! Maybe you don't play to game to exploit it, like I do. I find ways to make the game easy and then ultimately wonder why I don't enjoy the game so much. On my list of personal issues to work I, I think that's one of them.

Hmmm, sure. I'll pay to see Yin eat some cardboard.
Ah, my old pal Trip. Saw your work (or the theory of it any) for the map conversions. I guess you can stay here at Poly.

First off, giving out my postal address on Poly wouldn't be fair --or safe-- to my wife and children. And given that I've "known" many a thing in Asia, that last bit intrigues me, I must say...

Well, I'm happy to let a Poly Poll decide the issues of ICS and Combat. Now, c'mon, that's fair! Also, I plan to tape the event, but I desperately would need somebody from Poly who can edit video to put it all together for me. I have some ideas in mind for a concept piece, should I actually need to eat this darn thing...
Anybody here willing to put the whole thing together from High8 tape?

"Yin": Your friendly, neighborhood negative cosmic force.
Oh, and I really think this game is going to suck and if it doesn't suck I'll eat the box... can I get a free game too?

That indeed is tragic............................

I'm sorry Cybershy, but that quote is absolutely funny...
Can I stick that in my sig?

Sure! How about give instead a long list of source code that we can go and type statement after statement, compile, check for typing or printing error on the code, correct it, compile again and so on?
It should be soooo 80's Commodore Amiga or C64... and Open Source, too!
Of course we should have to handpaint sprites graphics pixel by pixel. No, wait! Some extended ASCII symbol can do the trick: it's a TBS game, for godsake! We don't need advanced colour graphics! We can stay B&W and gain support for that lovely and still common Hercules card, and be CGA compliant too. Civ at the edge of tech, and beyond!

Look around, it's been tried. Some fail, some work:
- Call to Power: Activision. PASS
- Rise of Nations: BHG. SUCCESS!
And others. If you think it's so easy, why don't YOU design a full Civ-style game?
Call to Power, pass? Rise of Nations, success?
Ok, rise of nations sold a lot of copies, but man! Microsoft is behind them! Is easy make a game in collaboration with the computer software monopoly. Let's try a TV program in a dictatorial country.
About create our own games, ok, but is NOT his work (probably). This is like having an accident with a car and Ford answers "make your car". Ask yourself that : What are reasons for making games?
An obvious thing is that it cannot be loved by all, but when something cost 60€ and in a week you don't want to use it anymore something is wrong (except probably for fresh fruit )

Yin, I'm in. I'll contribute a bit to the fund. But I think you are being really foolish to let this community decide. I'd advise you pick the majority opinion of Adm Naismith, Vel, and humm... maybe Sir Ralph? Think about it. Forum humor is such that no matter what the game actually was, *I'd* have to vote that you eat the box.
