    Yin:

If you want me to change my opinion of you, then why not start replying to posts chock-full of points against your opinion. Hey, I've got two posts in this thread alone. It's your ignoring of posts that actually are intelligent arguements against your point of view that diminishes you.

I used to feel the same way back when i registered here, a person posting here for the last 4 years (on and off whatever) must know more than i do. That broke down pretty quickly, someones status on a forum has nothing to do with their knowledge on a subject.

Some of the smartest minds on civ ive ever met were in MP games, who never or v.rarely post on any civ forum.

All we know for sure about veterans of forums in general is that they have strong opinions.

Having said that, i still enjoy Yins posts sometimes, they just seem to be lacking a constructive point, which seems to be getting up peoples noses.

        Dale:

I'm officially bored of you now. Keep baiting if you must. Perhaps I'll bite again at some point.

        Solver:

You know, I appreciate your willingness to at least engage in discussion. Even if I am taking tidbits of news about Civ and pushing them too hard in a negative direction, so, too, are even more people taking those same tidbits and pushing them too hard in a positive direction. But at the end of the day, it's a forum, right? Ain't this the point? And what else are we going to do until Civ 4 is in our hands. Stare at each other blinking quietly?

        Maquiladora:

I agree completely that time served on Apolyton is next to meaningless. I also completely agree that some of the absolute best players never waste their time in places like this. Fact is, I'm trapped at work for long hours at a time, and I'm often too tired when I get home to actually enjoy playing games. But posting some things here is easy and helps me relax.

Also, I have posted reviews of Civ post-release in the past, and I'd put my reviews up against any reviewer out there. And while this banter before release is just fun speculation, those who have read and liked my reviews in the past, are well justified in thinking that my view ... along with many others, certainly ... is going to be at least worth considering.

By the way, there are also those whom I watch carefully for their views: Hex, Vel and Korn come to mind immediately. This is not a slight to others I haven't named, but those guys jump out to me as particularly worth listening to.
I've been on these boards for a long time and I still don't know what to think when it comes to you -- FrantzX, December 21, 2001

As I thought. No guts to actually debate points which may weaken your view in the eyes of other posters.

Beyond 'lacking a constructive point', he's engaging in deliberate insults and outrageous statements in an attempt to get a reaction... aka trolling.

He's admitted as much in this thread, yet people still insist on taking what he says seriously.

As for insulting people, I throw garbage back at people when I'm attacked, then I get bored of that and move on. I defy anybody to find any thread where I threw the first insult at a poster here.

Actually I meant the remake but since you didn't get it or play it, its a moot point

PS I too enjoyed the original way back when.

And sometimes you throw garbage out to bait the hook...

First, if it matters, I won't be buying Civ4 upon release. If it isn't clear what the typical pattern is in the industry (with few exceptions) about releasing half baked games and then charging you again for finished code with an expansion pack, then what can I say?

As for what I have done since Civ3, the answer is obvious: I've stopped blindly believing in a game simply because it has Sid's name on it. The guy has put Firaxis on auto-pilot and is cashing in on his fame. O.K. Fair enough. The guy probably deserves it. But smart gamers should also be critical of what happened with Civ 3...and I continue to be critical. Yes, this annoys some people (of course the fanboys but also the Peter Pan-type player who just wants to believe in the magic), but it's also an important role in the community, like it or not.
You couldn't put up with the thread as it was mostly good natured ribbing, so you threw the hook in the water.

You then react with disbelief that someone bites.

You are very good at it, Yin. You should be. You've been doing it for several years now.

Well before I say anything lets just say I got a feeling you and I just look at or percieve things differently, thats not good or bad its just different.

I bought the remake of Pirates! and I really enjoyed it. I took a break for a while and now Im playing it again and enjoying it.

CIV 2.7 is made on the same engine. So I have my hopes up for a good game. I have also read a lot of the reviews and I like what I hear.

But then again I don't want a completely different game, I want an updated version of CIV with a few new quirks and from what Ive seen thats what Im gonna get

                              But thats just me

Well hes spending a lot of time trolling then, as are the people responding to it. Noones really winning here. Just a bit of a laugh, as the title suggests.
