do you need to modify the bootserv.txt if you dont have win XP/2000pro ?

Ummm.. No and don't know. I haven't modified the bootserv.txt, and I have XP.

i deleted the set of second entries in the bootserv.txt and it seems to work. at least i can see him now in the lobby. now we are trying to start a game there.

I've noticed that if you take the PW all the way up to 100 (or some other high number) and then start walking it back down, it will give you numbers other than *0.

That must be it! Thats the way Blackice plays with PW! Is this a bug in CTP, or a bug created by Mods?? Blackice and I are convinced that his CTP has been infected with some mod that is goosing things up...

I'm pretty sure my CTP is straight out of the box CTP 1.2 The only mod I have is the one required to play multiplayer. I think it is called 1.21.

checkmate, can you please explain what you mean with "other" than "*0" ? do you mean the PW percentage ? and where is this value given ? in the civ screen to the bottom or in the civ menu F2 or somewhere else ?

It is the PW % that is diplyed near the bottom and just a little right of center on the screen. When you press the "PW up" button it usually goes up by 10% increments. But when you have it all the way up and then start pushing the button to bring it back down. It stops at different numbers. The downward increments are not all 10.

Check I agree with Gav on this one, this is a mod effecting your and my game. That 1% loss is not a normal function of the CTP game. The pw and gold work on 10% incriments only. I have no mods running on my game at all.

I am going to reinstall CTP today keep sending me turns I'll see if it our game that is changing my base install.

I do remember it doing before. But that was on an older computer, and may have actually been a modded ctp.

I remember discovering this back when blackice had an extended thread about certain cheating that was going on. One of the points was that the PW in a saved game was = to 3. And that this must have been a cheat.

So, at that time, I played around with the PW buttons and was able to get it to come to different numbers. But now it won't do it. So maybe it does have to do with mods. My out of the box version that I have now doesn't seem to do it.
