                  does anyone know how exactly forests have an impact on the rainfall patterns (they definetely do somehow; i found more dry squares than without forests. so that would be a negative impact... correct me if im wrong)

                    Sorry about the stall neighbors. I've reformatted my hardrive once again this summer but this time I am not able to re-install my copy. I get a "Xdfe53" illegal operation error prompt. I have restarted, re-installed my Win Rar, and re-installed my copy each a few times. Still no change. I need to PM Senethro.
                    Bearhugger, Are you saying you find the dry squares dryer with forested squares further away? SMAC & SMACX both I believe have a strong emphasis on east to west wind currents that dictate rainfall in relation to elevations. I believe it goes like, if any squares are to the west of an elevation then they have some significant influence on them. I don't know specifically right now. But thats all i got tonite.
                    tty all soon.

                      Also, can anyone slap a list of all our emails in a post here? I can't seem to find it here and am creating a new (permanent) record on my HD. Thanks in advance.

                        hmm. what o/s do you use?
                        sounds like serious trouble. hopefully, senethro can help you...

                        forest, imo, seems to influence moisture levels just like boreholes, mines, farms. so, that would mean in a negative way....

                          heeelp.....?

                          yo Senethro!? I need that link again.
                          And your email addy too.
                          Bearhugger, I can't stand this sites search engine so I suggest referring to the SMAC manual (if there isn't a SMACX manual) regarding "dry squares/forested squares" and the ever valuable SMAC Academy: http://www.civgaming.net/smac/academy.shtml

                            maia, which link do you need?

                            Btw: do you get that error when:
                            => you install smac
                            => you start smac
                            => you start a (new) game in smac
                            or
                            => only when you load the save file ?

                              Sorry, I've been a little busy.

                              I'm completely clueless as to what your problem is anyway.

                              The link I gave you the first time is down. I guess someone got wise to the bandwidth theft taking place.

                              Google for "the underdogs". (I think I'm allowed to say that). They'll have what you need if you use the "title search".

                              Good old HotU.

                                Thanks Senethro, I'll be back. Simply edit your last post above. I am done till I return later. Thank-you. Refer to the edited P.S.S. below.

                                -"maia"

                                P.S. PJay, I am getting the problem when my copy (alien.zip) is unpacked and I dbl. clk. the install.exe. After it is all unpacked to a folder. However, not the entire sub-folder, which is about 43 different .cab folders (or the like). The thing is, I've installed it successfully a couple of times before. Why it's acting up now is that I think it didn't like to be copied. I re-formatted my entire HD as I mentioned above.

                                P.S.S, I am double d/l the package from 2 different sites.It seems I have found a solution to obtaining another copy. But it will take a nite.
                                I've compared the two file sizes and they are identical. That is, what was once thought to be "taken-down" is now re-named. And it is not a particularly nice name either.
                                Anyway, can't even buy this download from Firaxis. Whats up with that? They're renting entire movies over the internet. (For $ transactions) and I can't even find a hard copy of the expansion on the internet. That is , without forcing the consumer to buy a "sci-fi package" of only $1000.00 or more. What a maroooooon.
