because its readme says, in multiplayer all players need the patch in order to work.

on my old machine it ran on xp just fine without the patch. hmm...

Well, I don't have the XP patch but I have a cracked version. I found that the installing the XP patch on the crack caused my SMAC games to give me the terran.exe error.

Ofcourse you don't put offical patches on a cracked version :-)

The cracked versions usually have the latest patches included yet.

I am not allowed to save. "Save error". It boots me to a save screen for PJay and a password a mile long.
Also, I have formed a habit of sending my .sav's as a ".zip" file. You sent me a .sav file.

hmm...do any of you also have the xp patch?
if not, then maybe i should try without the xp patch.
i had this error as well but i think it was because i chose a wrong directory for saving, will replay/resend my turn now. and send as zip

when the save box pops up, often the filename is written like "C:\blah\blah\blah\furlings, player, year.sav". You should remove everything but the actual filename and use the file-browser to go to the right directory.

I usually just navigate to the directory, click on the sav from the previous turn and then change the year.

p.s. dont forget that the first player (angels, maia?) and the last (peacekeepers, me? well...yea im quite sure) must announce SP (secret projects) and other global messages here, because only the first and/or last (i dont remember) player get/s these messages.

Umm am I the 1st? How do you determine this? And I don't remember having to make a verbal transaction about game play moves. It's not a thing now but let me know if there is anything else we should be kept abreast of.
