We weren't administrators/owners of Apolyton when this happened.

Carpe diem. There's no statute of limitations on these things.

Otherwise it ends up with the rules looking like they were drafted around the starting point "Now how can we get away with getting Dale back here again?".

          I don't think that's a fair assumption.

Permabans have never been or will never be a good solution to issues like this.

On the plus side, there's no reason for Dale's vanity site to still be up if he's permitted to return to the mothership.

I intend to tease him mercilessly with limericks if he does return.

Well we could clear the speculation up with a simple announcement from the owners that Dale's return would not be welcomed, regardless of whether a ban is in place or not.

That would work. How about it, lads?

I think it's silly for them to say, the ban is off but we don't want you here.

But wouldn't that just go straight against the stated intentions of the administration to make a new beginning?

And personally, I'm also against bringing Dale back here. There's just too much bad blood and strong emotions attached to this issue and the best choice would really be letting Dale be where he belongs to now: WPC.

Well that depends what the aim is. It would certainly be welcomed by quite a few posters currently unconvinced by the official response to this issue.

                        2. Hate speech based on sex, sexual orientation, race, religion, age, disability will not be tolerated.
This is the only part that worries me. Robert, I don't know if you are aware but the Human Rights commissions up here have sued people for posting the bible.

They quote the exact same language you use here. All I am asking is if the teachings of Christ and those of the Catholic church are considered to be appropriate for the site.

I disagree with the notion that Dale should be permabanned.

I'm fine with it so long as he has no authority or moderator powers here.

This is another lie from Ben.

Can we add a clause in there for people who've never once uttered a truthful thing on this website?

I knew you'd read that comment and be upset. Fact is, what you spout is exactly that -- hate speech. You promote intolerance and express contempt about many minority groups. Hate speech is the label many would use, including our government. I'm still toying with the idea of making a HRC complaint against some of your postings now that you're in BC and back under Canadian jurisdiction. It'd be hilarious.

You're free to discuss (and cite and post excerpts from) the Bible as much as you want, but if you repeatedly espouse hateful beliefs, action will be taken against you.

As far as I'm concerned, this gives you the liberty to say whatever you please up to the point where you begin to directly threaten, insult, or demean specific groups of people. Opinions are fine; derogatory comments are not.
