Spiller's started 19 games in 3 years. Fred Jackson has outrushed him in the past 3 years. His Y/A in 2010 and 2011 was higher than Spiller. He's also started in 30 games.

Dude, they were rookies being eased in as 3rd down backs. Fred did great, kept his job, but that actually says nothing about the present-day value and skills of Lynch and Spiller.

He played 14 games in 2010, starting 1. So, starting from 2010, through to 2012, FJax has outrushed Spiller. FJax was 29 in 2010, 30 in 2011, and still outrushed 24 year old Spiller. Exactly as I said happened.

Lynch, was not a rookie, neither was Spiller.

Lynch has been in the league since 2007. He even ran for a thousand yards in his rookie year, but then football expert you are, you would know this.

Both Lynch and Jackson had their first season in the NFL in 2007. Beast Mode was a rookie; FJax a refugee from indoor and European football. Lynch won the starting job, held it for 2 years (making All-Pro in 2008), but lost it in 2009 because of a 3-game suspension at the start of the season. FJax played well and earned the lead dog role. Lynch never got untracked and was traded the following year. I think he's shown himself to be back in form with the two additional All-Pro votes since moving to Seattle.

But time marches on and things change. The bottom line is, given his chance in 2012, Spiller was 8th in the league rushing in only 207 attempts, averaging 6.0/carry, a higher average than Jackson has ever achieved in the NFL. Pretty strong sauce. So now, just as Jackson supplanted the doghoused Lynch in 2009, Spiller has now obsoleted the injured, aging FJax. Life in the NFL.

We shall see. Spiller hasn't put in a 16 game season yet. I'm extremely wary of players that have high output and low durability.
