It's not like there is a whole lot of other football discussion going on in here, needed to be spruced up a bit.

Highlighted players either got injured or had seasons that didn't warrant their picks.

So many WRs that weren't in the first 4 rounds did well, a great many of RBs did decently and weren't picked in the first 4 but by and large were very consistent. With the exception of Romo most 1st and 2nd round QBs did well but there wasn't huge separation between them, it was only after the first few rounds that it changed.
Highlighting Al B.'s name four straight times is just cruel

        • Picks 2-4 being Randy Moss, Shonn Greene, and Brett Favre was pretty bad on my part

Frank Gore was a solid pick, though. I might have been better off with one of the next three RB's taken (Turner, Mendenhall, Steve Jackson) but hey.

          • Gore getting injured was unlucky, I will give you that. Favre was also kinda unlucky. I don't think anyone expected such a steep decline.

            • And Randy Moss had 1264 yards and 13 TDs the year before and still had Brady. Who thought he would fall of a cliff? The Minnesota Vikings and then the Tennessee Titans sure didn't.

He only had a few TDs but he was putting up some good yardage numbers (not to mention leading RB's in catches) til he went down.
This is partly true but the injury was unlucky and on any other team that made the playoffs it would have been huge.

Not if said team had picked up LaGarrette Blount, as I did.

Interesting... I also had James Starks. Too bad he didn't explode until the regular season was over.

Randy Moss wasn't even in my draft universe. Same with Favre. I went with Flacco in the draft where I didn't pick a QB to start. Did ok, but in trading Flacco I lost my shot at playoffs. Bad deal.

Just because you figured you couldn't get him or because you had someone else in mind in that round does not mean you predicted he would fall off a cliff.

In the first round of that draft, since I drafted in the middle, I didn't even consider the possibility of an Adrian Peterson or Chris Johnson because they would be gone by the time of my pick. I also thought Frank Gore would have a good year and I had no interest in Steven Jackson post-back injury, Michael Turner, or Ryan Matthews. But could I say, "Oh! I predicted Ryan Matthews would suck it up"? No.

I'd be a disingenuous ******* if I did that... oh wait. That's your MO so hey

Maybe you thought Randy Moss wouldn't repeat his previous season or maybe shouldn't be a second round pick but no way did you predict 393 yards out of Moss Even the most mind-bogglingly, completely unfounded, pessimistic appraisal would have been he'd get like 700 yards and miss games due to injury or something.

NO ONE saw Randy Moss falling off a cliff coming. The Vikings and Titans sure as hell didn't. The Patriots didn't, either, but they started to think something was up when Moss only had 139 yards AFTER the first 3 games. It took that (and behavior problems) for Belichick to figure he was better off without him.

                          • By the time of my Randy Moss pick, Larry Fitzgerald, Miles Austin, Andre Johnson, and Calvin Johnson had been taken. Snagging Randy Moss 5th WR off the board was a reasonable bargain by any one's pre-season draft analysis. Well, any one who isn't a ****ing liar like you, Ben

Brett Favre as the 10th QB taken was not bad value, either. Even a pessimistic expectation would have had him around the 10th best QB.

Both just performed far worse than anyone could have foreseen, even you, supposed psychic.

That my WR chart lacked him altogether, yes it does. Same with my QB chart.

But could I say, "Oh! I predicted Ryan Matthews would suck it up"? No.
That's because you thought he would do well. Have I ever been a Moss fan?

He didn't even make my WR chart. I had guys like Collie (12th round, btw) who were on the charts. I had 50 WRs listed, none of whom were Randy Moss.

                              Here was my list.

                              Reggie Wayne
                              Roddie White
                              Greg Jennings
                              Andre Johnson
                              Larry Fitzgerald
                              Calvin Johnson
                              DeSean Jackson
                              Miles Austin

                              Jabar Gaffney
                              Michael Crabtree

                              Sidney Rice

                              51 players. No Randy Moss.

Even the most mind-bogglingly, completely unfounded, pessimistic appraisal would have been he'd get like 700 yards and miss games due to injury or something.
I would have picked Camarillo instead of him. I expected 40 players to get picked, and he didn't make my list of 51. Injuries happen. He's an old player. He's lazy. He's a big mouth. He's playing for a bad QB, in a bad situation, in a town he doesn't like.

What is the upside of Randy Moss? Sure, he didn't do as badly as I tallied him. He did do better then Cribbs, Rice, Nanee, Jackson and Camarillo.

Camarillo was replacement level in our draft, which was 240 yards. So he performed significantly above replacement level, and should have been drafted.

NO ONE saw Randy Moss falling off a cliff coming. The Vikings and Titans sure as hell didn't. The Patriots didn't, either, but they started to think something was up when Moss only had 139 yards AFTER the first 3 games. He was a terrible pick. I overrated some dudes (Malcom Floyd was a disappointment), but I got him 7th round. I don't spend top picks on WRs. There are always surprises every year at the WR position.
