I watched the Buffalo situation closely during the summer and everything I read said that Chan Gailey in his entire coaching career has been a 1 RB kind of guy. So much for that.

    • After you took Fred, I thought for sure you were going down that road.
Most of my draft was set. Rivers in the second round, Gates in the 4th. Colston in the 3rd. I left 1st pick open.

Then Fred Jackson, Jerome Harrison in the 5th and 6th. Then Floyd and LT. I had these set well before the draft took place. Hence my comment with Driver/Mason.

I moved Collie up on my draft board, I had him in the 13th round, with 11 and 12 going to defenders. Tail end was supposed to be Goldson/Greenway*/Garrard*/Mathis/Lewis*/Kaeding*/Bethea. I moved up Garrard, and Goldson probably shouldn't have.

The only rounds I was really unsure about were 11,12, 14-15 the mid rounds of the draft. I ended up with some interesting picks, (Lofton, Coleman, Tulloch, Cushing). Coleman's been a bit of a bust. Tulloch has been good, Cushing I won't see till later, and Lofton has held down my LB.

I'm still not sure I understand IDP drafting.

I traded for him last year. He held my team together. I had Colston/Ward/Jackson/ and LT/Jamal Lewis/McGahee.

My RBs were atrocious. All three went down at one point. By the end of the year I had LT/FJax/Wells. I never went 3 wide on RBs the whole year.

Yeah. Injured. Not much I can do about that.

                    • Brady v Buf or Vick v Jac

Last week, starting Vick over Brady did well for me, and probably won me my game. Do I go to the well for a second week in a row? Brady is Brady, but Vick has another very good matchup this week going against a very bad Jac secondary. Plus, I will probably need his rushing yards as my two regular starters (Harrison and Cadilac) suck and have bad matchups. Fortunately, Knoshone Moreneo is out this week in Denver and I have L.Maroney who is going to split time with Buckhaulter and I picked up M.Tolbert (SD) on WW so it will actually be Maroney and Tolbert in the backfield. Anyway, I'm getting sidetracked. It's mostly about which QB you think will get more passing yards than E.Manning (playing against the #1 pass def) or A.Smith (an improving QB with a better matchup, but my opponent doesn't look at matchups very much). Wow... when I type it out, it almost looks obvious. Both Vick and Brady are going to pass for more yards then either of his QBs, so Vicks rushing yardage becomes VERY important. What do you think?

I don't see why you don't think Eli will do well passing. Eli is not spectacular but he's always a solid QB week in and week out.

Really, I don't think your QB's are as slam dunk as you think they are. True, Brady is Brady, but Buffalo's secondary is pretty good and Brady really isn't a shoe-in, believe it or not. Yes, in that dramatic come back from behind win in the opener last year, he aired it out but the second matchup with Buffalo... 11/23 115 yards 1 TD 1 INT. That is shockingly bad for Brady. Honestly, I don't think Brady's going to do much better than Rodger's 255 yards last week. Also, Randy Moss is in a weird malaise right now... that spectacular TD grab last week made the highlight reels but it was literally the only thing of note Moss has done the past two weeks. So I wouldn't be expecting any deep downfield strikes to Moss.

I don't know how much longer Vick is going to be playing at such a high level but Jacksonville's secondary is very weak. Go with Vick. I think Vick could very well out-pass Brady this week.

                        • 3 things...

                          1) I don't care if Vick out passes Brady this week. I care if he out passes Eli or Smith.

                          2) I think Eli is going to do bad this week becase he is playing against the #1 pass defense in the league. Tennessee opponents have averages just 85 yards a game.

                          3) What the hell are you doing up at 0630 in the AM on a Saturday?

Tennessee is #1 because they have played Oakland and Pittsburgh, against a team that can actually throw the ball, it may be different.

                            ACK!

Umm... if Vick out-passes Brady then it doesn't matter how Eli or Smith do because he would still be your best option. If Brady < Vick and Vick < Eli and Vick < Smith... do you think Brady > Smith? If I think Vick will out-pass Brady, is there any logic in starting Brady since he could only do worse for you against Eli or Smith. Am I right? Instead of me comparing Vick and Brady each to Eli and Smith each, I simplified things by just comparing Vick and Brady, the only meaningful comparison.

Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if Eli out-passes all three of them. Tennessee had to play against Dennis Dixon/Charlie Batch and Jason Campbell running for his life. That's not very meaningful.

It will most definitely be different. Eli Manning is in a whole another league beyond Dennis Dixon/Charlie Batch and Jason Campbell without an offensive line protecting him.

If anything, I think Tennessee's secondary could possibly be worse than average, a far cry from #1, if only because they have yet to face a legitimate passing offense this season. These guys haven't had to deal with talents like Steve Smith, Hakeem Nicks, and Mario Manningham and a QB like Manning who can deliver the ball to them. They could very well be rusty.

Hell, if I didn't think Bradshaw could run all over this Tennessee front seven, I would say Eli is capable of getting his first 300 yard passing game of the season this week. The Giants running game should be there so Manning will probably be in the 250 yards 2 TD range, which is average per game output for him.

I never understood this whole being down on Eli thing that everyone does. He's no where near his brother and he's not even among the best QB's in the league right now, but he's about as solid as you can get and, except for when he plays against the Vikings who for some reason always have his number, he's not a matchup-based guy who you start against Detroit but then avoid against Pittsburgh or something. Eli always plays as well as anybody against anybody. A 'bad' matchup doesn't hurt his numbers.

To prove the point, last season, Eli had 12 games in which he threw for more than 200 yards and 14 games in which he threw at least 1 TD pass. Compare to Tom Brady who had 13 games in which he threw for more than 200 yards and 13 games in which he threw at least 1 TD pass (so Eli was only held out of the endzone twice while Brady was held out 3 times). Of course, Brady's overall yardage and TD's were higher but the point is that if you use 200+ yards and 1+ TD as the minimum benchmark for a QB (and this is the minimum point at which a QB is typically useful for fantasy purposes), Eli is as much a weekly starter in fantasy as Brady.
