I like the Big East but it sucks.

The main thing I hate about the Big East hate is that the haters minimize its successes to an absurd degree.

You never hear about people saying the ACC needs to be removed as a BCS Conference. Always the Big East... even though the Big East has been a better football conference over the past 5 years.

Also, I think West Virginia is going to sneak up on people this year. Pat White is gone, but Jarrett Brown looks like the read deal and Noel Devine is electrifying. WVU vs. Cincy is going to be one Hell of a game.

And Dion Lewis looked increadible for Pittsburgh, indicating that LeShawn McCoy's replacement has been found... but they are still coached by Dave Wannastedt.

Yes, I misspoke. The Big East has clearly been superior to the ACC in recent years. But it still looks to be light years away from producing perennial national championship contenders on a yearly basis, unlike the SEC/Big 12/Pac 10/Big 10.

Ohio State is a legit contender year in and year out. Penn State is approaching that standard again. Michigan may yet get there again as well.

You know what... you guys are right. I was going to post about how the Big East doesn't play anyone out of conference, but there are some legit nonconference games coming up for the Big East. Cincy at Oregon State, Pitt plays Notre Dame, SFU takes on FSU and Miami, WVU at Auburn...

None of those are upper echelon, OSU-USC or BYU-Oklahoma cataclysms, but they are legit games.

Big East (Still wouldn't stack them up against the top 4 BCS conferences, but they appear to be equivalent to the MWC this year... nothing to sneeze at, given the MWC was probably the third best conference in the country last year, at worst.)

Ohio State is overrated every year, just like the Big Ten in general. They've been embarrassed in their last two shots at the national title and only won the national championship in 2002 with the help of the refs (just like Michigan in 1997).

The OSU sneaks into the title game in the years where less than two teams escape the power conferences (SEC and Big 12) with no losses and USC manages to lose a game to a pathetic Pac-10 opponent (usually Oregon State). They then get blown out just to remind everyone of how much the Big Ten sucks.
