  • Usually World Series' between two teams in the same city are (well, since the last 40-50 years anyway). The 2000 Subway Series was very poor in the ratings.

Btw, is it too early to call it "The Curse of Manny" yet?

          • Compelling game in Dodgers Stadium (another one!). Phils were up 1-0, then the Dodgers scored one in the 8th and later on in the inning loaded the bases.

2 outs, and J.A. Happ walked Ethier - walked in the go ahead run

If MLB gamecast is accurate, two of the four balls were borderline strikes... and the final ball was a strike, nothing borderline about it, just above the knees in the center of the plate. I didn't watch the game, nor did I see very many other at bats in gamecast, but if the strike zone was that small all night, no way it's 1-0 after seven...

                • A-Rod!

Is he a "true" Yankee now?

Hell, he's been an order of magnitude more "clutch" than Jeter this postseason. And Yanks are up 2-0 in the series.

                      • It may be rainy tonight in NY, so Game 6 of the ALCS may have to be postponed. Hopefully they can still play. If not, tomorrow I guess.

                          No game tonight.

Phillies still waiting. Ok - really obscure Talking Heads reference. Never mind.

Now I can watch the whole Flyers game. Yes - Philly has other teams, though you wouldn't know it.

                          • OK, Girardi, here's what you need to do pitchers-wise for the remainder of the postseason.

Game 6 (tomorrow) - SABATHIA ON HIS REGULAR REST. This is VITALLY important to line up the World Series to the best of our advantage. If you pitch Pettitte tomorrow, and we lose and Sabathia has to go Monday, you'll only be able to use Sabathia for two games in the World Series, rather than three. Plus, this gives us our best chance to avoid a Game 7 and another start by Lackey, who seemed to figure us out two nights ago.
Game 7 (Monday, if needed) - Pettitte.

World Series Game 1 (Wednesday) - Burnett.
World Series Game 2 (Thursday) - Sabathia on three days' rest.
World Series Game 3 (Saturday) - Pettitte on regular rest.
World Series Game 4 (next Sunday) - Chamberlain or Gaudin, whomever you feel more comfortable with.
World Series Game 5 (a week from Monday) - Sabathia again on short rest. DON'T PITCH Burnett on his regular rest. He does far better at home than on the road, and this allows you to rest up Sabathia for an emergency Game 7 role if you need him there.
World Series Game 6 (week from Wednesday) - Burnett on extra rest.
World Series Game 7 (week from Friday) - Pettitte on regular rest. Again, you have Sabathia for an emergency relief role with two days' rest if you need him.

                            Don't screw this up, Joe.
