  • Time for the Phillies to reverse course on Lee. If he doesn't pitch tomorrow there's no (good) reason for us not to go up 3 to 1. It's the World Series, there is no future, put your best guys out there.

Oh, and I almost forgot: Jimmy Rollins, shove it up your @ss, motormouth.

        The what?

With pitchers and batters taking forever it would "destroy the pace of the game"?!

I have to agree... what "pace" of the game. Baseball just plods along... a pitcher change, a slow pitcher, whatever. There are just too many obviously wrong calls being made.

I like the idea of a guy upstairs who calls down to the field and tells the umps who are already disturbing the so called pace of the game by having a long discussion exactly what can be seen... so the umps can get it right after wasting all the time

          • First - that's part of the problem; it would make it EVEN SLOWER. And so far, replay has always been the guys on the field going off for a minute or two. Replay suggestions involving solely a guy upstairs telling the umps they got it wrong are much less likely to be implemented, unfortunately.
Second - I'm all for having a shot clock. 20 seconds between pitches or it's an automatic ball; after 15 seconds pitcher is allowed to throw the pitch no matter where batter is barring injury.

                • Mo > Lidge.

Replay: an ump in a booth with a radio. This business of the umps all walking down the tunnel to look at a big TV is really dumb. Just have a guy in the booth with access to replay and communication with the crew chief on the field.

                  • How is the A-Rod isn't a true Yankee crowd doing this days, Arrian? I'm sure being in that area, you have had an oppertunity to run into some of them .

They have to like him now, or at least they have to admit he's getting it done. If he goes 0-fer and the Yankees lose, though, they'll be back at him. Or maybe they'll go for Teixiera.

Can't argue with that. I hope that it leads to the recognition that Utley > Howard and Rollins.

                        • Btw, I think the abyssmal performance of AJ Burnett in the postseason indicates that the 3 man rotation is NOT ideal, even with the off days and such, and was born of necessity.

                          Utley > Howard and Rollins
Undoubtably. A-Rod and Utley though is far closer (and mostly because Utley is an amazing defensive 2B - because A-Rod is the better hitter).

Though if the Yankees win, I'd love it to be on a walk off HR by A-Rod.
