Considering the 4 above him where Bailey, Andrus, Porcello, and Neimann, I don't see what all the hubbub is.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

No hubbub from me, just surprise. And an admission that I don't pay enough attention to know whether it's a big deal or not. :shrug:Apolyton's Grim Reaper 2008, 2010 & 2011

Bailey had a very good season in relief, but I didn't think that would get it for him. Andrus was the best defensive SS in the AL according to UZR, and both Porcello and Niemann had very good years pitching (ERA+ of 116 and 115 respectively with double digit wins for both).
I don't think anyone is really in shock about it. Or all that surprised.
I actually thought Porcello would get it as he had the most press this year, especially in his run when he got called up.
Happ nor Hanson winning the NL ROY is a far, far bigger surprise.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

It's nice to see that "total wins" wasn't the sole determination for a change. His ERA, WHIP, and strike outs made him the best pick, and it's nice to see by the voting that it was an obvious pick, even though he only had 16 wins.Keep on Civin'

Going 16-8 for a team like KC is every bit as impressive, if not more so, than winning 20 for a division winner.Apolyton's Grim Reaper 2008, 2010 & 2011

Sanity prevailed in the AL Cy Young voting. Nice. Also nice: Grienke is aware and likes FIP (fielding independant pitching). Of course, that's what happens when you hang out with Brian Bannister (but have infinitely better stuff).
Beckham's case for ROY was hurt by only playing ~100 games. I'd have gone with either Anderson or Andrus.
So the NY press is concocting articles talking about a trade for Curtis Granderson. I don't really get it from the Tigers' PoV. Granderson is good. His contract is reasonable. I assume, then, that they're willing to listen and if a team wants to be stupid and cough up, say, Joba Chamberlain, they'll bite? Because otherwise it doesn't make sense to me.

Of course. I'm used to "so-and-so Free Agent Man may sign with the Yankees" stories. Trade rumors take a touch more effort.

I think all three had cases. It's hardly an outrage.

Well, its a minor outrage that Wainwright had the most 1st place votes (which, of course, was probably based on his having 19 wins).“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another.
