Well, there are no flukey off-days built into the World Series, so the Yankees will either have to pitch everbody on short rest or use a 4th starter (start Chad Gaudin in Philly). CC can do it. Burnett and Pettitte, though? I'm not so sure.
The Yankees won't have the luxury of using Mariano for 4+ outs every game either. The rest of the bullpen needs to step it up.

Wasn't the World Series supposed to start at earlier times? Or is that begin next year?“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

You don't win a poker tournament without going all-in at the right moments.
I was very upfront about the Cubfan bias in my approach. If my staff lacked depth at the starter position, damn straight I would risk the kids' health with a short rest plan for the postseason.
I'm not claiming it's right for everyone, but for some franchises, in some personnel situations, it's the way to go. Sure It a gamble, but it's also not a sure thing that they'd get hurt.Apolyton's Grim Reaper 2008, 2010 & 2011

I've seen too many obviously bad calls this post season that could have effected the outcome of the game.
It's time we stop letting the championship being determinded by a bunch of fat old men who can't run to get into position to see the play. WAY TOO MANY BAD CALLS.Keep on Civin'

Bad calls in the Series are a beloved tradition. I can handle fair/foul (past the infield) and HR yes/no replays, but that's where I draw the line -- so to speak.

Even having been on the receiving end of the most recent blown call, I say NO to instant replay. That wouldn't be baseball. I don't even like that they allow it for suspect homeruns. Down with instant replay! Up with the workers revolution!"Stuie has the right idea" - Japher

I think you gotta have it for Home Runs. It is already a break in the action.
I can see something like a challenge. One per game and decided by a replay umpire within 30 seconds (that's probably less than the time the umps argue amongst themselves about close plays).“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

No challenges. Absolutely not. It would destroy the pace of the game.
I'd rather see a technological solution for home runs; it wouldn't even be that difficult. Lasers or something.
If they did any sort of replay (and I include HRs on this, I dislike the way they do it now) I think it should be done upstairs (as I think you suggest), in real time, by an extra official. Let him do the deciding of whether something needs changing, and then just change it. Call down to the umps with a radio, and tell them they got it wrong; if they disagree, they can discuss it then. Very little reason to involve the umps on the field. But none of this booth crap.<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.
