The Texans and Vikings have agreed to a trade that will send QB Sage Rosenfels to Minnesota for a fourth-round pick in this year's draft.

This shows just how slim the pickings are at QB. Still, it should be an upgrade for the Vikes.

Well, if it wasn't official we're probably going to suck next year, it surely is now. Most of these I'm not surprised by, but the one that hurts the most is Brooks - like Alstott, I felt he earned the right to leave on his own terms. I hope that he either retires or we resign him to a cheaper deal, because if he's going to continue we could use his leadership.

The one positive to this is that it pretty much confirms we're going to be the biggest players in the free agency pool this year. I expect at least two (if not more) major signings.

Well, Brooks isn't a 3-down LB anymore due to diminishing cover skills, so I understood that. I expected them to keep Dunn (still productive) and Cato June. (BTW, I think June would make a helluva strong safety.)

As for free agency: No QB, a coach with no track record, in a tough division... Not the most attractive landing spot for a high-end FA. Of course, the fact that Gruden is gone might prove to be an attraction for some. But this is not a team poised for a title run in the next couple years.

I really think Boldin will want a QB who can get the ball to him. And a pass-oriented offense.
