Good lord, that's stupid. Given all that man has done for the team, and he still manages to win on balance, he deserves more than a year or two ... no way they should've won the division anyway this year, but he managed to get pretty darn close (not that SD didn't try to hand it to them or anything).
The rumor in Colorado is apparently the Broncos wanted to take away Shanahan's executive power and just make him a Head Coach and Shanahan said just fire me then.

Shanahan had an amazingly long tenure, given the 3-yr term of many other coaches.

Plus, you won't have to make the change until the holiday season is over. I was thinking "Orthodox Christmas" January 7th. If there is another reason/day you plan on taking down your Holiday Avatar, let me know.
No, I'll keep santa kenobi until you come up with new avatar.
Congrats on your win.

I'd also suggest that generation is around a 10 to 15 year span - at least a decade. Certainly not only a few years. 1985 draft, so 1979-1991 would be a good span...
So the QBs who start in 1979, and finish in 1989 would be of the same generation? I really don't see it. I think 1985-1990 is much more reasonable. I really don't see Montana and Flutie as of the same generation, being as Flutie played until 2002.

Dude, you said "of his generation" -- and 5 years is not a reasonable definition of that. By any measure.
Let me suggest that a QB "generation" might [u]reasonably[/b] be defined by career length. For All-Pro QBs, that number is typically about a dozen years or so.
I would suggest, then, that Doug Flutie's QB "generation" contemporaries, therefore, would be those who graduated college +/- 6 yrs. from him.

So you consider Flutie and Montana to be of the same generation?

If they graduated college within 6 years of each other, I certainly do.
That's like saying Peyton Manning and Eli Manning aren't in the same generation (they left college within 6 years of each other... Peyton in the 1998 Draft and Eli in the 2004 Draft).

Why are you arguing about Flutie?
He wasn't even the best QB in his own draft, let alone his generation.
Randall Cunningham had a far better NFL career than Flukie Flake.
ACK!
He has a great butt-lucky throw in collage and then does an honorable thing for his child and does a very nice thing for the NFL (by playing in the CFL) and has a decent year or two in the Not For Long
He played. More than most. Better than most. Most.
For every Unitas, Staubach, Montana or Brady, there's a Steve Walsh, a Todd Rutledge, and on and on. Flutie was height-challenged. That was his biggest setback. Still, he played. If it had been all CFL, that's more than most.

can't believe they canned shanahan. At one point I thought he was god. . I easily thought he was the best coach in football back in the 90's. But Denver's collapse this year is pretty significant. They pretty much had to go with a change.
