You're making a helluva lot of weak-ass excuses for something that's pretty plain as day. Souray and Visnovsky have massive, unwieldly, and are probably about 90% likely to be flops in their later years. Souray can't even play properly now, and he's got many years to go.

No matter how much you complain about Kiprusoff, that doesn't change these facts.

It seems to me like you're *****ing a whole lot about inconsequential parts and missing the big picture.

I also have a hard time not laughing at somebody who goes off the deep end when I make a typo, and here you are making all kinds of typos in every post you make.

It also seems to me like you're getting extremely agitated to the facts I'm pointing out. You don't even want to look at them, instead you try to deflect and obfuscate and shoot the messenger.

      Get some sleep, nye.
What deep end? Where're my bolds and cursing?

      Someone here is clearly agitated.

I'm content to see you make a fool of yourself, and quite happy to watch you do so.

Now, other than 'they're old' what do you have?

I admit, the pairing is interesting. They could decline into a pile of collective goo while dragging the rest of the back end with them. OTOH, the immediate prospect of the two paired up on the PP is intriguing and could help create quite a good PP.

At the same time none of retirement, trades, buy outs, simply being willing to sit a player because the owner has more money than brains can be factored out when looking at contracts that far in the future.

      In a word, relax.

They're old and they're already not very good now. You really see this as "interesting", and not a massive potential problem?

I'm not making a fool out of myself. You spent the last dozen posts trying to pick apart inconsequential errors that miss the big picture in stuff I've quoted and then tried to attribute the error to me. You then responded to valid criticisms about Visnovsky and Souray by basically saying "yeah, but kipper sucks!".

You've been spinning around in this thread so much that it's dizzying. You haven't even addressed my original points til just now, and the best you could come up with is it's an "interesting pairing".

You should take a peak at the behindthenet.ca stat numbers for Souray and Visnovsky. They're both in the lower half of defensemen at even strength in most metrics, but they're both near the top in terms of salary. The Oilers have a lot of cap space contributed to questionable players for the long term (Souray, Visnovsky, Penner, Gilbert). It's one thing to gamble on one or two players, but to gamble almost 20 million in cap space each year for ~4 years is a lot to gamble on...especialy when Souray and Visnovsky, you're basically gambling that they won't suck rather than gambling they'll be good.

        • You generally quote random crap that you have no idea the validity of but the sound of it tickles you?

          Don't answer, we already know.

As for the stats, the two have played a grand total of 26 games for the Oilers, and obviously none of them together.

If you want to go by the past on different teams, why do you never pay attention to Souray's time with New Jersey? The player knows how to play defence. The question is will he fit with the Oilers this year and next, and the one after that.

As for Visnovsky, he's got cookies. That gets my vote over a pointless argument over the internet, but I will note he was a plus player with a lot of points on some terrible Kings teams.

Are you new here or something?

            You're weird sometimes.

(I knew the gist of it was true, I didn't bother crossreferencing the exact time the contract expired because I actually had things to do that day so it was a bit of a driveby post. Come off it already. To the casual observer it'd seem like you'd have no argument at all if you keep obsessing over a pointless inaccuracy in a quote whose general sentiment remains true)

                  • The Canucks offered Sundin $10M/yr for 2 years.

Sundin is great, and I like him a lot, but I'm not sure I like him that much...

If we bid on an old player, I want Burnaby Joe.

                      • Hawks acquire Campbell...

8 year deal at $7.1mil/year. Jesus christ. That's more than Iginla.

The Hawks have $12M committed to goaltending alone next season. Wow.

They're over the cap by $4.5M right now. Someone's gotta go.

I'd laugh, but it seems the Oilers and the new owner are leading the charge. Could be dicey.

Detroit Red Wings sign UFA forward Marian Hossa to a one-year contract worth $7.4 million.
