AHL- Apolyton Hockey League 07/08: VI They brought their ****in' toys with 'em!
Disappointed they lost to Colorado. I was hoping Vigneault would bench the Sedins to make his message clear about effort.
Positives.
1. Much better play on defense. Fluke goal again by Colorado saves them.
2. Pettinger played well. I know he must have because Asher is calling him a douche. Apparently the Canuck players that play hard and with intensity are douches.
3. Linden off the bench. We need a second line scoring, and Linden can still do that if he gets the ice time.
Negatives.
1. Benching of Raymond. Why on earth was he benched?
2. 1 goal is not enough unless of course you are gods like Calgary who can get massively outshot and win without a single comment criticizing them
We have a decent schedule for the next few games. No way we can't get hot again before all the 4 point games start.
Oh, and Calgary should watch out for Colorado. The way they are playing, they could easily take the division.
Scouse Git (2)La Fayette Adam SmithSolomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

I consider kneeing a goaltender in the head douchebaggery, myself. Douchebaggery is completely unrelated to the quality of play.

If you saw the game, you'd see why. Columbus had a lot of shots but none of them were particularly good. Kipper had one of the easiest shutouts he's had in years.
Leclaire had more saves that were actually very good.

Did you notice like 75% of your last 10 games are against > .500 teams?
Oh, and Calgary should watch out for Colorado. The way they are playing, they could easily take the division.
They're too injury riddled and lack solid goaltending to be a real threat. I think they will make the playoffs though.

Yeah, that's because 75 percent of the teams are above .500 now.
Calgary and Vancouver and Colorado are all .500 teams in reality, and would be if the records didn't inflate wins.

As NYE said "its not how-- its how many"
But seriously-- I attended last night's game and the shots were weird--The FLames were massively outshot in the first in a period where they weren't that bad defensively. Thee is some truth to Asher's comment that this was not a particularly difficult shutout for Kipper
I would assess the good scoring chances as pretty even-- The Flames goal though was a shot that should have been stopped
AS for criticism's I don't have much new
1/ Flames PP allowed probably the Jackets best chances
2/ Phaneuf made at least 3 ill advised pinches but others bailed him out
3. Warrener played and was not great-- Cory Sarich must have peed in Keenan's cornflakes to lose his longevity streak as a healthy scratch and to be sitting while Warrener and Hale play
4. Iggy was 3rd star and the consensus in our suite was "for what?"-- Maybe they thought he felt badd as he wasn't in the top of the 3 stars for Feb.
5. Huselius continued on the top line and continued to generate next to nothing
6. Fourth line saw little ice even though the others seemed to sleepwalk
Overall . .. the FLames won a game they probably "should" have lost. They were not great but neither was Columbus-- despite that it was a reasonably fast-paced, but sloppy, affair. But as a someone who saw them lose to the Devils and Stars in games the Flames dominated, I shed no tears that the Flames are finally getting some wins due to Kipper
You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo
Chicago-Anaheim is turning into a heavyweight (err, featherweight) match... just look at this line:
19:02 Anaheim Sean O'Donnell: 10 minutes for Game Misconduct
19:02 Anaheim George Parros: 10 minutes for Misconduct
19:02 Anaheim George Parros: 2 minutes for Instigator
19:02 Chicago Ben Eager: 5 minutes for Fighting
19:02 Chicago James Wisniewski: 5 minutes for Fighting
19:02 Anaheim Sean O'Donnell: 5 minutes for Fighting
19:02 Anaheim George Parros: 5 minutes for Fighting
What I can't figure is how Eager got a penalty for fighting. He kept his gloves and stick and basically huddled while Parros hit him ... but we got a 7 minute powerplay out of it though so I don't mind

I used the tsn.ca feed... easier to parse when I just want one piece of info
Bertuzzi wasn't given a game misconduct, just a regular 10min misconduct. He definitely was on the ice later on. (He wasn't actually involved in the 19:02 fight...)

Oh, and we managed to do precisely nothing with a 7 minute powerplay including 2 minutes to start the 2nd of 5 on 3 ... if you came in in the middle and didn't notice the PP indicator you wouldn't have known it was a power play for the Hawks (including the 5-3), they had I think 2 chances on the entire 7 minutes, and during the 5 on 3 had only 1 shot on goal (Toews wrist shot from the blue line) ...

Well, we won 2-0 thanks to Corey Crawford kicking some *** in goal... this guy could well be a star someday. Beautiful goaltending, nearly no rebounds - even on some very hard shots. He didn't stop that many shots, but he stopped some hard ones, and not giving up a rebound is often worth two saves
4 points back... we still have some trouble on powerplay and keeping together, but beating the Ducks feels very good

So they are all around .500 on that measure-- BUt Vancouver is the worst of that grouping if you simply ask "who won?" with no other criteria
That's the quick and dirty way of doing it.
There's a few others but they are more complicated. SO wins and SOL become ties, OTL become losses.
Anyways, Calgary, Colorado, Nashville and Vancouver are all .500 teams or close to it.
