To be honest, there seems like a lot of parity in college football this year. Nobody really sticks out as dominant and even the Big 12 looks no worse than the others.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

1. Ohio State
2. Oregon
3. LSU
4. Kansas
5. West Virginia
6. Oklahoma
7. Virginia Tech
8. Hawaii
9. Boston College
10. Missouri
I'd like to put Michigan in there, but they can't really get in unless they beat OSU. If they beat OSU, then they will be #4 or #5 probably.
You know how much i'd enjoy an oregon-UM rematch in Pasadena...<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

To be fair, Notre Dame should never lose to Navy (or to any other school except perhaps USC sometimes--no offense intended to the Michigan fans here, but my expectations are that high). But the 43 game winning streak didn't reflect the fact that Navy is a perennial bowl team. They have been a good team for a while now. I don't think any other program besides ND could have strung that streak together.Last edited by DanS; November 5, 2007, 13:45.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. As for 2-9, I still don't think it will happen.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. You do realize that Northwestern is 5-5, Iowa is 5-5, Purdue is 7-3, and Indiana is 6-4, right? And all those teams have been doing that generally out of conference.
Minnesota is really the only horrible team in that conference. Most of the Big 10 teams are mediocre with Ohio State and Michigan being good.
The amusing think is Purdue is only 3-3 in conference, and has a better overall winning percentage than all the SEC teams aside from LSU, Georgia, and Auburn.
Now here comes the bull**** "the SEC teams beat up on each other" crap, that you'll pull when you realize your point has been blown to smithereens .
Not saying the Big 10 is better than the SEC, but the SEC ain't as good as the suckass kissups seem to assume it is.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Man, Sloww... you keep coming back for more and more pwnage and have no idea how bad you are being slammed. It's almost sad.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. I was just thinking that same thought about you.
Put your little taffy ass teams against SEC or Big 12 and make them have to actually beat someone.
"They're 7-2" or whatever. Big deal. Play someone of note.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

Purdue's losses came against Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State. True their out of conference games were against patsies, but then again that's not unusual except for the Pac 10. Though they did blow out all of their OOC patsies (Toledo, Eastern Illinois, Central Michigan).
Let's compare to Alabama, who is 6-3. They play Western Carolina, Florida State, Houston, and Louisiana-Monroe out of conference. Aside from Florida State, same strength as Purdue's OOC. And, btw, 'Bama lost to Florida State. They also struggled to beat Houston, struggled to beat Mississippi in an SEC game.
'Bama's reputation is made on a close win over an overrated at the time Arkansas, a close loss to a Georgia team that has gotten far, far better since, and a close loss to LSU.
I'm not convinced they are better than Purdue. And I think that they'd do fairly well in the SEC. Maybe not 7-3, but not far behind (perhaps 6-4).
The Big XII is the amusing one. Who the Hell has Texas Tech played? Their OOC is Southern Methodist, UTEP, and Rice and lost to Colorado. Oklahoma State lost to Troy... and BIG! And aside from the loss to Oklahoma, Missouri's closest win was by a mere 6 points to Illinois, while they blow out the rest of the Big XII.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

The problem for the Big Ten is that they play a style that is a bit outdated; spread offenses have encouraged highly skilled position players to go elsewhere, and the fact that Big Ten teams tend to be about the team and not the player, Ohio State aside, means that potential Heisman candidates look for a team on which they can excel as an individual star. Mario Manningham is quite possibly nearly as good as Calvin Johnson, yet where are his heisman votes...
The Big Ten still comes out with a huge number of highly skilled offensive and defensive linemen every year, they just don't have the superstar focused offenses that cause ESPN to drool over them. They do need to change styles a bit though, because of the weakness they have to the spread offense (it's not just Michigan here).
BTW, when does OSU start to lose wins and scholarships and bowl eligibility for the Maurice Clarett fiasco, or does that only apply to teams that lose the national championship game ...<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.
