I realize that y'all want to reward BC for being undefeated, but do you really think that BC is better than USC?

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Yeh, very weird. Objectively, USC is a better team than BC, but wouldn't be in the BCS, f.e.
How on Earth can you say that objectively, USC is better than BC?
There is no objective data to support that, unless you're leaning on margin of victory over Notre Dame. And if you are, then Michigan is better than BC and just as good as USC! And Georgia Tech would have to be better than BC, even though the Eagles spanked them!"My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine

Well, let's turn this around:
Did I think that South Florida was the best team in the country when I voted them #1? No. I fully expected them to lose at Rutgers. However, based on the season up to that point, they had EARNED the #1 rank.
USC has not done anything to earn a ranking higher than BC at this point. Do I think BC is better? No. Do I expect USC to finish above them? Yes. Has BC earned their position above USC at this point in the season? Yes. Am I angry at you for making me sound like Don Rumsfeld? **** yes."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine

Well, I honestly do think that Michigan is better than BC and probably USC as well, but there is NO objective evidence to support that, just opinion."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine

Fear not, Ming. Due to my recent acquisition of an XBox 360, the Guynemer NCAA Football Tournament will return at the end of the regular season. (Michigan, owing to having two losses of course, will not be eligible.)"My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine

Michigan was earlier in the year in the Big House. They played a different (but still very bad) ND team. It's not analogous. You thinking that Michigan is better than USC gives me a great deal of mirth.Last edited by DanS; October 23, 2007, 12:39.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. I do think USC is better than Boston College. They've just run into an amazing run of injuries lately. That, and QB position is unsettled. But I do think that BC has earned their spot, as higher than USC.
I don't really rank necessarily on who I think is the better team. Because the homer in me does think that Rutgers is better than Arizona State, but ASU has earned their position, IMO.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. It is amazing how getting one's ass kicked by a traditional rival (Alabama) can hang over a whole program in a way that getting your ass kicked by a new rival (Florida) didn't. The Vols were outscored 100-37 by their two biggest rivals. Phillip Fulmer's hotseat, which had cooled considerably after beating Georgia, has increased to red hot status. He is so entrenched at UT that it will probably take until after next season to make a move, but the drums have begun their steady beat for his head. UT fans can be particularly nasty to a coach that gets beat consistently or badly by Bama. Bill Battle had moving vans parked outside his house. Johnny Majors had the donor support pulled from him in the middle of the night. There are a tremendous number of things that UT fans can forgive their coach, but there is one rule that outweighs all others:
Don't let Bama embarass you.

Matt Ryan should get the Heisman NOW! Two amazing drives late in the 4th Q to turn a 10-0 deficit to a 14-10 win, with an AMAZING final TD. BC was shut out for 3 quarters, 13min, but with just over 2 min left, they scored, and with 11s left, they went ahead 14-10 and ended up winning. Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. - Ben Franklin
