I wish Trump would stop threatening and just get on with slapping huge tariffs on Canadian cars, trucks and parts. As I explained earlier using aluminum as an example, materials and components going into cars and trucks often cross the border several times before a production is complete. And the majority of parts and assembly takes place in the US. My guess would have about 10 American automotive workers lose their jobs for each Canadian job loss. I think most Senators, Congressmen and governors realize that and would publicly veto Trump.

Not only that, but regulatory loosening did not start to take place for 6 months after inauguration and the tax cuts did not take affect until about 1 year after inauguration.
I should also add that regulatory and tax changes do not affect the economy instantaneously either. It typically takes 6 - 24 months for changes like that to really make their full impact.
