So confidence now is due to he expectation that Democrats will retake Congress?

    • And this a a big one, prime-age workers that left the work force are returning.

he last three years, amid a strengthening labor market, the prime-age (25- to 54-year-old) labor force participation rate has increased. The participation rate, 82.0 percent as of June 2018, is now close to recovering entirely from its cyclical downturn following the Great Recession. This comes after a decades-long decline in male prime-age participation and a 15-year slide in female prime-age participation.

Continued improvements in labor force participation rates in the next few months will be crucial to determining whether recent progress constitutes merely a rebound from a cyclical low or an actual reversal of the downward trend—a distinction that is critical to long-run growth and current macroeconomic policymaking.

And we are headed to a crash. And wages for most Americans have been flat and even declining the past two years. Ignorant clown.

Yay! At the top of the business cycle we’re finally back to where we were in 2010 in the midst of the Great Recession in this cherry picked metric! #MAGA

Well, it is the only valid explanation one can find for the huge discrepancy between the conservatives negative confidence in the Obama economy
and the real numbers that show what a great job Obamas government did when they brought economy back up from the Bush jr. desaster (with its huge tax cuts)

Not being against Obama and being anti-Trump is bad enough. You get no cookie.

I'm anti-stupid ... it's not my fault Trump is stupid more of the time than Obama was. (I did publicly post that I think Obamacare is the worst of both socialist and free market "solutions" ... that Libya and Syrian intervention was horrible ... etc ...)

Amazing how much you liberals just love bailing out big banks now. You didn't like it so much back then, even when Obama did it. Kind of a no brainer. News flash, W was all for bailing out big banks too.

Yes, it was conservative economic policies which got us into the Great Recession. Kudos to you for admitting this!

Do you need to also see data and graphs for business optimism and investment? "Mortgage our future" my ass. We are investing in the future at a record setting pace.

You just said we are back to where we were during the Great Recession. Now you're saying we are at the top of the bubble. Gee. You are brilliant!

The reality is we are in a massive debt bubble, and that almost surely means we're in a real estate bubble as well. The issue you brought up and I compared to 2010 is 25-54 labor participation rate, and factually it is at around the same level as 2010. These are not mutually exclusive statements, and your pretending that they are shows how ridiculously stupid you are.

Well previously you made a huge deal about labor participation rate, and now you're like "but you can't increase the debt." Labor force participation is actually important but I guess you are going to continue to be impressed by your own smartiness.

                    • Conservative economic policies led to 1929 and 2008. What is this moron blabbering about ?

                      • Trump essentially claims that his response to hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico was the most yugely successful response to a natural disaster in history.

President Donald Trump has been criticised for hailing the US response to the deadly Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico last year as "tremendous".

The mayor of its capital tweeted: "If he thinks the death of 3,000 people is a success God help us all."

Puerto Rico only finished restoring full power last month, 11 months after the hurricane hit.

A recent report says 8% left the island after the hurricane and many died due to poor health care and other services.

Puerto Rico, an unincorporated territory of the US. is home to some 3.3 million people.

                        What did the president say?
He was asked at the White House what lessons could be learned from Hurricane Maria as Hurricane Florence bears down on the Carolinas.

Maria, he said, was the "hardest one we had by far because of the island nature", adding: "I actually think it was one of the best jobs that's ever been done with respect to what this is all about.

"The job that Fema [the Federal Emergency Management Agency] and law enforcement and everybody did working along with the governor in Puerto Rico, I think was tremendous. I think that Puerto Rico was an incredible, unsung success."

Mr Trump had said recently: "We have put billions and billions of dollars into Puerto Rico and it was a very tough one. I think most of the people in Puerto Rico really appreciate what we've done."
The president called the response to Hurricane Maria, which killed 2,975 on the island, "tremendous".

                        • Trump's negligence resulted in the unnecessary deaths of thousands of Americans citizens. He can shove those paper towel rolls where the sun doesn't shine.

One of my friends is Puerto Rican and his family lost their home, their business and everything! They ended up with nothing. Their belongings all gone. One of his family friends disappeared and is presumed dead. Trump doesn't know a god damn thing about people or suffering.

If there is a hell, he is going there.
