Cockney made me look really stupid in a couple of threads ages ago and my butt is still hurting. I'd really like to get back at him, but as I have nothing to contribute to any debate due to my immense imbecility, I'll just throw out some random insults.
such a shame.

Corbyn to face Labour leadership challenge from Angela Eagle
Angela Eagle will challenge Jeremy Corbyn for the Labour leadership on Thursday, the BBC has been told.
It is understood the former shadow business secretary has the support of the 51 MPs needed to mount a challenge.
Ms Eagle is one of 20 members of the shadow cabinet to have quit since Sunday, after which MPs approved a motion of no confidence in Mr Corbyn.
Speaking in London, Mr Corbyn said not everyone agreed with him but he was determined to "carry on with his work".
Mr Corbyn's allies have accused rebel MPs of trying to "bully" him and say they believe he will win a leadership election.
'Soul of the party'
The BBC's Newsnight spoke to 50 chairs and secretaries of local Labour parties who supported Mr Corbyn's election as party leader.
Of those, 45 they would support and nominate Mr Corbyn again in the event of another leadership contest.
One told the BBC: "The MPs are living in their own little bubble. The orchestration of it is appalling, characterised by a total lack of democracy.
"They are dishonest. Jeremy should stand again - this is a fight for the soul of the party."
A number of prominent union leaders have rallied behind Mr Corbyn, issuing a joint statement saying that the Labour leader had a "resounding mandate" and a leadership contest would be an "unnecessary distraction".
However, they go on, if a leadership election "occurs through the proper procedures we would expect all parts of the party to honour the result".
it will be interesting to see what happens. i'm pretty sure that corbyn, having the support of the unions and most members, will win comfortably. i hear that some are trying to keep corbyn off the ballot, which shows how weak they feel their own position is among the membership.

Dannubis made a series of valid points which I as usual arrogantly dismissed. Now I just accuse him of what I am doing myself in the vain hope that some of the mud sticks...

labour lost 18 seats and zero councils (net; some changed hands). they easily won the most votes and have the most councillors. predictions in the media were talking about hundreds of losses. and that's been the pattern: the media have constantly predicted disaster for labour, and every time these predictions have not come true. labour under corbyn have won their by-elections handily and increased their share of the vote; the 'strong challenges' from UKIP talked up by the media have come to nought. a cynical person might say that sections of the media are trying to create a self-fulfilling prophesy; but it hasn't worked.
The Tories have ravaged the country, left people far worse off, done huge damage to the NHS and education and now managed to push us out of europe. Labour are now (at best) running neck and neck with them in the polls. If that's him doing well, then I'd hate to see him doing badly.

one can analyse a poll any way one chooses.
ultimately, they don't matter; elections matter. as i said, by any reckoning based on results not feelings, corbyn has done well. he has done very well when one considers that he has also had to fight with one hand tied behind his back, with a large contingent of MPs who refuse to accept the will of the membership, and the media, including most of the nominally left-wing papers, that has run a non-stop campaign against him from day one.

yes, this is the problem with autism i suppose: you need everything spelt out to you and cannot infer even the obvious. so here goes: i wouldn't blame the american working class voting for trump because of the alternative on offer, in much the same way that i wouldn't blame people voting for fascist parties in europe if they are offered that kind of choice. the point (which you would have got had you understood the post that you responded to) is that the left must offer these people a real choice, and not just a different flavour of neoliberalism, so that they do not feel that their best option is to vote for fascists.
I was right on from the start. You're excusing people for voting for fascists. People are responsible for their vote, if they vote for fascists they are to blame for voting for fascists.
As for Trump (not really a fascist) ... there were about 20 other options. Some of which were also anti-establishment like Rand and Bernie. No one was forced to vote for Trump.
voters have a choice between trump and clinton. they can vote third party of course, but they'll get one of those two come what may.
let's put it this way: if i gave you a binary choice between eating **** and drinking piss, i expect that you would choose the latter (feel free to correct me if i'm wrong). does that mean you're into watersports? or does it mean that the choices on offer suck and you picked the best available?

This is by all means now a propaganda war but he can do it.
All the established media will be against him and there will be no jouranlistic integrity kept.
He needs to keep pounding again again and again and again reality: the torry cuts on social provisions, the use of far right rhetoric by the torries, everything, non stop. Point out that he was not part of this rotten system. And he needs to have his party by his side.
Get over quick with the succession procedure and take them on
