Hillary picking Tim Kaine may have been the nail in Trump. Insurgency... nonsense. Trump has angered women and minorities to such an extent, it doesn't matter what some angry white men think. The angry white man doesn't run this country anymore. This is a very diverse country... unlike what happened in the UK. Now many in England are begging for a "do over". I think Americans will look at that and say "no we don't want to be that stupid and regret it later"..

moreover, i don't doubt that you know more than me about the finer points of US politics, but everything you post is obviously coloured by your perspective; and, as you are an educated, minority, immigrant, urban, homosexual, i, like elok, think that your perspective is very different from that of most people who will decide this election. certainly to this outsider, clinton is clearly the establishment candidate, her wall street friendly VP pick couldn't be more establishment, and this allows trump, despite the patent absurdity of a billionaire capitalist playing the man of the people role, to pose, and fairly convincingly at that, as the insurgent. will that be enough? let's see.

No, not everything is tainted by my perspective. I've seen other perspectives and I've seen other parts of this country. Kaine isn't as Wall Street friendly as you think. I think you're getting mixed up with Vilsack, who she didn't pick. Sanders supporters don't really like Vilsack, because of his close ties to Monsanto so that is probably why she didn't pick him. No, it's not enough because Trump only appeals to angry white males... and that demographic hasn't mattered in decades.

Elok is in fantasy world. There are huge portions of this country who actually fall in line with my thinking and are angered about Trump. Trump has caused millions of Latinos to go out and register. Lines were huge in many states for Hillary and in fact there were deficiencies in the amount of polling materials.

I recently read someone who argued that Trump would prove to be something akin to Goldwater. Goldwater didn't win, but he did shake things up thoroughly and reorient them for the next election. It's now a cliche to say that Trump has upset the existing order. I give Clinton somewhat better than even odds of winning at this point, though much of it looks like sheer chance. But come 2020, there will probably be someone more focused than Trump who knows how to play his game to win, and unless something has changed significantly in the meantime that person will knock HRC on her butt.

And shake things up thoroughly? You do realize Richard Nixon was a total establishment candidate? What happened to shaking things up? Unless if you're inferring that Goldwater had this mysterious impact that only happened until Reagan took office. But Reagan was in politics before... and that was the 1980 election. Goldwater had no impact on the 1968 election. The 1968 election was in fact two establishment candidates. And please don't claim Nixon was an insurgent candidate. The guy was a total political insider at that point.

So just an all in all bad example.

Kaine has an ability to connect with people far more than you are claiming... Plus his time in Honduras may actually help him. But I just don't see how you or Elok are in a position to discredit me as a person.
