He made a brief, sputtering bid for the White House in 2012; he's basically a midget version of Mitt Romney. And, seriously, he could whoop Hillary. Mitt could do it twice. You realize that you are not a typical undecided voter, right? You're a well-educated urban minority homosexual, ie about as safely blue as a person can possibly get. Your unquestioned disdain for every aspect of right-wing populist politics is not shared by the bulk of the populace, and if there is one mistake that is most likely to cost your side the WH, it's failure to realize that fact. "What people want" is highly variable. A significant percentage of this country's voting population has already decided that it does, in fact, want Trump. That's how he got the bloody nomination; in fact, a good deal of his support came from independents, precisely the subset of the population Hillary needs to win over.
But none of your friends or favored news outlets have anything but contempt for Trump, so as far as you're concerned those who might be receptive to him don't exist. This mistake will prove fatal if it is not corrected promptly. Get out of your damn bubble.Comment

That's wrong. Most of this country isn't the way you described. The bulk of this country doesn't accept right wing populist crap. Independents cannot stand Trump. This has nothing to do with me. This has to do with polling data, even ones showing Hillary coming up close in republican states, like Georgia and Mississippi.
Trump has enraged minorities so much, the independents you talk about won't matter. Obama didn't win independents in 2012. That didn't really matter.
You are the one that needs to get out your bubble and open your eyes a bit. This country isn't the same demographically as it was in the 1980s. Angry white men are no longer the deciding factor. And most of Trumps support didn't come from independents. If you actually looked at who vote you would realize that. Most independents hate him to such a degree. And now that Cruz basically refused to endorse him, that is another big chunk of support he won't get.
Most of Trumps support actually came from a faction of the republican party (not even the entire thing). Trumps nasty stupid rhetoric won't win him the general election.
BTW, my point abouts Latinos are true. In 2008, they were 8% of all voters if I recall correctly. Now they say that may be closer to 14-15% because of Trumps horrible rhetoric. Plus women don't like him. So there is another set of voters that hate him. Message voters take home on both channels: TRUUUUUMP! Both candidates are widely hated, but the one on the right at least has something to say beyond how yucky his opponent is. If Hitler and Stalin are running for president, and Stalin can't do anything but whine about Hitler, while Hitler completely ignores Stalin to make vague promises about how he will give America living space, Hitler is going to win despite being slightly more repulsive, because he has a message of his own.
A collection of recent surveys. Trump wins in one, ties in a couple of others, is trailing by 1-4 points in most others. Clinton wins more decisively in two. This is not exactly a beatdown here, GC. Your candidate is not secure, and the way she's acting she's only going farther south.Comment
