I think the term "Canadian-American" is absurd. I'm arguing that if other groups don't hyphenate, why should black people? Pretty much everyone I know uses black, white, Hispanic, Asian, etc, and absolutely no one is confused by these terms. African American sounds about as cutting edge as "chesterfield".

Also my White South African friend is "African-American", while everyone in the US who is born in the US has nothing to do with Africa. So the term doesn't make much sense.

Also, the term, "hyphenated Americans' hasn't exactly been equated with politically correct, supporters of multiculturalism. So I'm baffled why you're saying this.

Ok. Well, use the term in conversation sometime, and I'd be curious how others respond. I've *never* once had anyone call me a Canadian-American. Ever.

I actually thought some of my imitators while I was away were rather clever. Tops though has to go to Drake who managed to impersonate me at WPC for several months before anyone caught on.

Then when I actually posted there, WPC banned me for... being a DL of myself. There were 4 Kenobis at one point.
