No one is saying African-Americans aren't Americans. It's stupid.
*sigh*. Kid, that's the point. There aren't African-Americans, European-Americans, etc. Just Americans.

I've seen clips on other shows but many people will cheer "I am an american", its the social conservatives who are disdainful of a hyphenated america though

I think that's stupid. They have probably perceived it as a manifestation of cultural marxism. It isn't really. Political Correctness is a manifestation of cultural marxism, and they should be more concerned about that.

Who do you think coined the term in the first place? Jesse Jackson. In 1988. Why should I use a term that's not even as old as me? "Black" is fine. African American is a neologism. You won't see it in Dr. King's speeches.

But not only that, we've got to strengthen black institutions. I call upon you to take your money out of the banks downtown and deposit your money in Tri-State Bank. We want a "bank-in" movement in Memphis. Go by the savings and loan association. I'm not asking you something that we don't do ourselves at SCLC. Judge Hooks and others will tell you that we have an account here in the savings and loan association from the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. We are telling you to follow what we are doing. Put your money there. You have six or seven black insurance companies here in the city of Memphis. Take out your insurance there. We want to have an "insurance-in."
            I don't see any "African-American" there.

And yes, Jesse Jackson is a purveyor of Cultural Marxism.

I don't think you understand. It doesn't matter what you say, they are still going to call you a bigot of some sort. That's my point. So, yeah, they used the term to call people bigots, and now some are saying those who use it are bigots. It's destruction of our language and culture.

It's because I *do* understand what they are doing to the lexicon. Language is important. One significant part of Cultural Marxism is semiotics - the influence of signs and symbols within language and communications. Change the language and you change how ideas are expressed.

What would it matter if the term 'African-American' were come to be considered by society, a racist term or not? How is that specific word harmful?

If you ever say the word "African-American" then it'll go on your permanent record and you won't be able to buy guns with extended magazines until you issue a written apology to all African-Americans blacks negroes [insert approved term here]

Or you could be the victim of violence. You can find out what happens to people who call black people names they don't like on youtube.

Using racial slurs communicates to others that you are a racist and support racism, which can make racism seem more normal and acceptable.
