Criticisms of either Bush or Clinton are made by, probably, most Americans at some time. Hating on Bush or Clinton thus seems a normal part of politics. Does that mean most Americans should be banned from America?

Exactly my point. If you're going to allow social media posting to be considered when immigration are deciding who is allowed in though, you'd have to be incredibly careful to ensure it's not being misused and I'm not sure that's really possible.

      • Not letting Republican supporters immigrate sounds like a great idea

Non-citizens do not have a right to come to this country, period. You're narrative is pig-headed.

Except that allowing this could very easily lead to a situation where PC immigration officials were determining who could enter based on their own liberal beliefs. And you're in favour of that.

            • They've already done that.

Regarding immigration/visa vetting: This is disturbing. It would seem obvious that publicly posted social media should be a bedrock of the modern vetting process, along with more traditional background checks.

I look forward to learning more.
I agree with you there. Kid does say some dumb stuff. That said, even a broken clock can be right once in a while and Kid might have a point about the vetting process. It has been claimed, though not proven imho, that the state department and homeland security does not allow any questions about religious beliefs during the vetting process. It seems to me if we are trying to weed out jihadists then asking people how they feel about jihad and terrorism might be a good place to start.

That doesn't change the fact that Kid is loony as all get go.

                • The loons are those who let this happen. What would Hillary do about this? Have you even asked yourself that?

How many potential terrorists do you imagine are going to tell you at immigration that they absolutely love violent jihad and terrorism?

                    • I just think that if a potential employer can investigate my public online presence as part of due diligence, it's certainly within the purview of the federal government.

Makes me wonder what the vetting process is like for government jobs.

I dunno. The wife was blabbing about her love for terrorism and jihad all over social media. Did anyone in the process of granting her a Visa ask her?

                          • Two totally different things.

My great grandfather immigrated from Germany and when they asked his last name they spelled it wrong. He was too afraid to correct them, so our family name has been misspelled since.
