    Is the Establishment and Media's reaction to Trump causing his popularity?

    So trump suggested that we might need to temporarily ban Muslims from migrating to the US and immediately people reacted, including many prominent members of the Republican Establishment.

    Ok, so who remembers that Jimmy Carter banned Iranians from migrating to the US during the Hostage Crisis? I don't remember it too well but I don't think there was much opposition to it.

      Singling out a nationality is not quite the same as singling out a religion - that would be like saying "we're going to boycott the Soviet olympics because we hate slavs"
