If an ordinary police officer refuses to enforce a law, wouldn't that be a firing reason ? and if it was an elected officer, wouldn't that be considered a severely punishable crime ?With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

Which of us cares more about American lives...!?
You don't even support universal healthcare for your fellow citizens, so stop trying to deflect your moral turpitude on others, you heartless freak."Aha, you must have supported the Iraq war and wear underpants made out of firearms, just like every other American!" Loinburger

Originally posted by Dinner View PostGun ownership is actually at record lows but the folks who do own guns are buying more than ever. Seriously, it isn't unusual for one gun nut to have a dozen different guns.
Here are some recent gun control polls courtesy Gallup.
Forty-seven percent of American adults currently report that they have a gun in their home or elsewhere on their property. This is up from 41% a year ago and is the highest Gallup has recorded since 1993.
Americans are far more likely to say guns make the home a safer (63%) rather than a more dangerous (30%) place to be. A decade ago, Americans were divided on this issue, whereas in 2000 the majority thought guns made a home more dangerous.
After support for stricter gun laws spiked following the Newtown shooting, views about the sale of firearms have returned to what they were earlier in the decade. Americans still oppose a ban on handgun possession.
Meanwhile crime has been plummeting.

That last comment was more just an add-on and not my main point. I was showing that his numbers were probably low compared to today. Some of that is due to reporting also obviously.
But yes you're right, it does minimize the impact but I don't think it totally does. Those same laws help the police keep some of those gang bangers in jail once they're caught. I think that helps. But a better solution is necessary. We do need a national policy. I'm not holding my breath. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple
