What, mass shootings? Not nearly thousands. Not even hundreds.

No not just mass shootings. Just shootings. In 2013 there were 11,208 of them. For most non-Americans that number is just mind-boggling. For you guys it seems to just be an irrelevance.

That said, even the numbers for mass shootings are incomprehensible. In 2013 there had been over 900 deaths in just 7 years. Since then the rate has only increased. The rate of mass shootings has TRIPLED since 2011 ffs.

A big part of why gun control lost is the fact that the guns that liberals want to ban--scary black rifles, "assault weapons" (what a silly term) are virtually never used in murder. The other kind of weapons, namely pistols, the supreme court has repeatedly held cannot be banned.

No, the real problem is that people like you want to paint it as some crusade by 'liberals' to wage some stupid war. You think its idiotic trying to ban weapons like assault rifles and you fall back on 'well the Supreme Court says we can't ban pistols'. Complete bollocks. If Americans decided it was what they wanted, they could ban every gun in existence, or have you forgotten that the reason this is even a problem is because of the second amendment?

In Chicago, this year through 6/9, not even a full 6 months, there have been already 1000 shootings.

This considering that Chicago has some of the most strict gun control laws in the country.

Newtown massacre, the fort hood massacre, the Colorado theatre massacre, and this - all were in 'gun free zones'. Most schools and churches believe it makes them safer, the opposite is true.

What's incredible to me is the way MOBIUS never quite manages to conceal a palpable sense of unbridled glee when he posts about dead Americans. Which is why he's such a terrible troll for people who aren't SlowwHand. For a concern troll to be effective you have to at least appear to have genuine sympathy.

Using these tragedies to support the simple-minded falsehood that "gun-free zones" and gun control legislation promote mass murder is an outright lie, and disingenuous in the extreme. Statistically, the households most likely to fall prey to gun violence are those with a gun present. Suggesting that Chicago's gun laws cause Chicago gun violence is causally backwards.

And yes, for the record, I am firmly in favor of gun control, including confiscation from known violent felons and confiscation of all assault weapons. For starters.
