You'd actually be speaking a truth. Most deaf people read poorly. Their speech is not great, so most come off as slow, and dumb. It's a big problem. I wouldn't consider you prejudiced if you brought this up, and hadn't much experience with folks.

It's a common thing I run into, and I didn't really understand it until later on.

Berz has said something along those lines - that deaf people tend to be pretty stubborn. I don't consider that prejudice, it's something that he experienced and a valid comment.
