You don't know anything about being a Methodist. We don't say people aren't Methodists. If they say they are, we don't say they aren't. Incidentally Wesley thought of himself as Anglican. The church created Methodism.

so your point now is that methodists believe different things to catholics? that's a pretty uninteresting point.

If you're uninterested in the fact that Methodists don't believe in catholic creeds what are you doing?

I know a fair bit. I know that the Wesleys swore off celibacy after they got into that whole groupie thing.

Sure you do. You've been doing it now.

So what you're saying is that Methodism has no justification in forming it's own church? Interesting.

Literally, He is the Holy Spirit. That should not be hard to understand.

No. I'm not saying that. You're saying that I'm saying that, which is a lie.

                          1. the dictionary is an authoritative source to define Christian teachings.

I reject this premiss. I am arguing that in order to define Christian teachings, that one would go to the source of Christian teachings, the Church.
No Ben, you're just a moron trying to argue that the dictionary definitions are not the dictionary definitions.

I confirm this with the Ecumenical councils, all of which were formed to settle issues just like the one we are discussing here. I am arguing that the ecumenical councils are the authoritative source of Christian teachings surrounding these controversies.

I would argue, prima facie, any purported Christian arguing that the question, "is God eternal?" and "is God a created being", are irrelevant questions is in fact, not a Christian.

You're free to call me a bigot - but it's not my writing that puts you outside the line. Talk to people like St. Augustine who argued the same thing I am typing for you here.
You cow to authority figures and are incapable of thinking for yourself. Doesn't change what the dictionary definition of Christian is.

                              • The encyclopedia says that Christians believe that Jesus is "uniquely significant."
That's the way normal people talk. The dictionary is correct.
