  • the best economies in history have spent upwards of 99% of their resources on just feeding themselves
To us, it is the BEAST.

    • Nonsense. Most western nations and even modernized Asian nations like Japan only spend around 5% of income on food despite ea ting much better and much more. Efficiency and good distribution, storage, and processing facilities are where it is at. But Russia doesn't have those nor is the government even addressing the problem in a meaningful way. Hell, we haven't even gotten to the low output per acre issue due to a lack of modern irrigation systems and a chronic shortage of fertilizer even though the country is a major producer of fertilizer.

Putin capped the domestic sale price of fertilizer so low companies lose money selling on the domestic market so they export it all instead. Block them from exporting and they will simply go bust unless the price gets to float on the market or subsidies radically increase. This is no way to run an economy especially when the private sector avoids Russia due to a lack of the rule of law and arbitrary theft of property without compensation by the government. You guys are fearfully close to becoming a basket case like Venezuela especially since there are around some $600 billion in national debt payments due in dollars in 2016 yet you are cut off from foreign borrowing. The private businesses are even more in debt and can't even roll over their loans.

Try actually reading something instead of forming opinions based on "если Евтушенко против колхозов, то я за" and "не читал, но осуждаю". I've read both, and her books are good and important, while Solzhenistyn's are (mostly) bad and important. Start with "у войны не женское лицо", it's not about evil Stalin or whatever you might think it is about.

        • American farmers export 45 percent of their wheat, 34 percent of their soybeans, 71 percent of their almonds, and more than 60 percent of their sunflower oil.

are you retarded? modern technologies have only reduced efficiency by orders of magnitudes

that's why the population growth has shrunk to levels way below even prehistoric growth levels

Мне достаточно знать, что запад ей дал бляшку не за "у войны не женское лицо", а за что-то, за что он дал такую же бляшку горбатому.
А, если Дима Быков поет по этому поводу диферабы, то тут и говорить не о чем.

Just how is your national debt is doing, biacth? Do you have a half of your brain still functioning to understand that you can't loan year after year forever? 'cause it's already a 120% of your GDP! You are bankrupts, you, F*cking imbeciles (c).

                      • And Putin just required the fertilizer companies to cut prices by a further 1/3rd so that it is now below the cost of production. That policy didn't work out well for Venezuela and it won't turn out well for Russia. That means the companies lose money on every domestic sale and the only thing keeping them afloat are exports but Putin is talking about limiting their exports via a lace sing requirement. Putin does this for political reasons but his policies are putting the producers in a very bad place. Not a smart or sustainable policy.

It doesn't matter because international Fina cial markets are closed to you. Everything has to be financed either by cash on hand or a current account surplus. Unfortunately, your main export earners are oil and gas both of which as way down in price.

These are problems usually only found in corrupt little 3rd world petro states; this is what Putin is reducing you guys too. On top of that he has gone and got you guys stuck in yet another foreign war. It is going to become a proxy war and Russia won't be able to leave without the dictator Assad falling because 80% of the population of that country wants him dead. Enjoy the slow steady drip of casualties from conscripts which Putin will send there just like he sent them to Ukraine.
