    • The my guess is, that France is just the easiest target ...
because of having enough ISIS recruits there who are willing to commit terrorism in their homeland (considering that there are many disgruntled people in france, as you also could see in the past, where there were many violent clashes/streetfighting between youths and police)
and also ways to get weapons and explosives into the land (for example via the colonial possessions france still has)

I know he hasn't posted in ages, and I have no idea if he lived near Paris, but what about Spiffor? (DAVOUT, too, was a regular French poster way back when, iirc.)

        • I don't get why ISIS would want to conduct a terrorist attack in France. This only makes western countries more determined to defeat ISIS making it harder for ISIS to take over Syria.

            • At the beginning of November a person from Montenegro was arrested in Bavaria,
who transported Kalashnikovs and TNT in his car.
In his navigation computer he had programmed Paris as target.
Seems like a clear link between him and the attacks yesterday ... either as terrorist or as weapons transporter for the terrorists

they have a large muslim population who lives in poverty and can easily be radicalized.

                        • Also these belong to the ISIS state.
They have given up their nationality.

No, this one is completely different. Think about it, terror act in USA, both terror acts in France, recent one in Grozny - muslim fanatics with kalashnikovs do a suicide run and kill people themselves.

Russian plane - someone somewhere somehow bypassed airport security and got a bomb into a plane. COMPLETELY DIFFERENT APPROACH. Like, 180 degrees different. James Bond different. That wasn't a normal muslim terrorist attack. So far it's alleged to Quatar, a state terrorism.

As I understand it--and I've only read a little on the matter, a brief summary of the whackadoo book on Islamic terror these nuts are alleged to follow--the affairs of infidel countries are entirely outside their concern from start to finish, and we gravely mistake their purposes if we think otherwise. The purpose of this attack was not to hurt France or further some strategic goal for land, money or resources, but to deepen and widen jihad largely as an end in itself. To spread violent conflict between Muslims and unbelievers, as they see it, is the will of God, and thus to attack a country that was relatively aloof from the fight is desirable. Of course it serves some practical purpose as well, because the radicalized Muslims generated by broadened conflict are fresh recruits for "the cause."

But, while I have no love for Islam, this is not the relatively sane and lawful Islam Muhammad gave the world, but a totalitarian version of Islam. And the first goal of any totalitarian organization is to perpetuate an endless cycle of ideological violence for its own sake, without regard for sense, practicality or even survival. Why are these nutters attacking France, you ask? Why did Stalin keep purging whole groups of people at random? Why did Pol Pot kill all the educated people who might have lifted his country out of poverty? Why did Hitler keep his death camps running even as he was getting invaded from both directions? Because that's the whole point. Boot, face, forever.
