Horrible and disgusting. But also, French police were fast raiding and rescuing hostages! Makes me think they were on a high alert anyway. The operation was very well planned, at least as much that has revealed itself so far. I don't see why the hostage takers would have negotiated anything. So my guess is that the police raided and smoked them.

In any case, this is such a mess that it will divide the world yet again. TO those who want to "understand" and those who want action. Both are OK when they are discussed and suspicious if they go to extremes. Extreme left and extreme right.

So the president closed borders. I guess other European countries will follow soon. I'm flying to London for a week on Sunday, so that will be probably no-hassle trip. They will probably be on hight alert there as well. I will make a conscious decision to not let this affect anything that I do or think - or the terrorists win. I will continue to watch adult entertainment, I will continue to admire large and effective weaponry, etc. And I will, for the name of freedom, watch the gladiators, just to rejoice western culture. Maybe a little hulk hogan as well.

I don't get the soft approach either, like our intel service just released that they know several isis guys who are here, and yet nothing is done. How about arrest them and kick them out? Who cares about intel, it is safer to kick them out anyway. There is no tactical advantage following them around and sharinf threat info with the rest of the world. Or give them to the Amerikanz.

greek media say that isis took responsibility but they'll take responsibility for an old lady falling down these days.
now the big question is was that domestic or imported and my fear is that it's domestic.

I think it was IS ... I think that after the military setbacks and the killing of their "most popular" Henchman, Jihadi John,
they needed some successes on the Propaganda Front and therefore sacrificed all of the terror cells they had in Paris and vicinity, which were capable of acting.

I also guess that they wanted the bombs that exploded in front of the Stadium to explode inside (which would have been a major propaganda coup, considering that the german foreign minister and the french president were present in the stadium) but saw that the security controls in front of the stadium were too good for them to have a chance of smuggling bombs inside

it's certainly possible, but the islamic state is facing serious military difficulties at present and likely have more immediate priorities. it could have been something they've been planning long-term, though. i expect we'll know more tomorrow.
