First, that would require that he is well trained in martial arts. I doubt that he is.

Second, it just looks like, in her drunken fiury, she stumbles into him, with her weight shifted to his left, and he slaps her, which sends her the other direction, into the railing.

There is a HUGE difference between slapping someone and punching them. When you punch someone you intend to knock them out. It may be a jab, but you intend to brutally harm the person. When you slap someone you only intend to inflict minor injuries and pain relative to punching them.

So when Rice told the NFL that he was defending himself and he slapped her and her head hit the railing, that's a whole lot different from what most people now believe happened.
