The store where Brown was recorded allegedly taking cigars was looted. I'm sure the police never envisioned that probability when they released the video. I wonder when it will come out that the local police chief is a Klansman. He really seems to want to incite the locals.

The store that was robbed has also been looted by those claiming to want justice. Like the London riots the incident is being used to justify criminality. It'd be different if there wasn't going to be an investigation, but it is no different from a lynch mob mentality coupled with criminal sympathies.

Actually, the protesters had nothing to do with the looting; apparently the protesters and looters were two separate groups of people.

Some of the protesters in fact, organized to help protect the store from further looting.

And I tried finding something in American law that calls for on-spot execution without formal arrest and trial for theft; couldn't find such a thing.

Not to mention that bringing up any other past background about the victim that paints him in a negative light is irrelevant, and is simply smearing the victim. But hey, smearing the murder victim and blaming the victim for his death is okay, if the victim is black.

It is relevant. It demonstrates that he's a thug, who had just robbed the store and that the cop had reasonable suspicion to act, not that he was 'walking while black', etc. The cop had a reason to be there and to detain him.

If the cop acted in self-defense, it's not 'extra-judicial execution', now is it?

Had the store owner shot him it wouldn't be 'extra-judicial execution' either. It would be self-defense.

This is America. People are permitted to defend themselves from assault. If someone dies from being shot by their victim, the solution is to stop mugging people.

I'd rate that a 2. Unless you're attempting suicide by cop or are currently enduring psychosis, what justification would you have to go for a cop's gun?

A petty thief who also assaulted the store owner? That would rate about a 1.

5 would be someone who was in the process of robbing the store who had surrendered to the cop and then gotten shot. A genuinely innocent individual walking the street with her dog who got shot by a thug while looting? that would be an 8.

BTW - that *has* happened here already, two people have been shot by the looters and nearly died.

Given that I used to make my living as a pizza delivery driver - and I was assaulted once on the job, and I have a brother who works at a convenience store? Yeah, I can't see why I would be unsympathetic to thugs.

You mug someone here in TX - you are putting your life on the line.

You get shot after fleeing from your thuggery by the cop? Sucks. But it's not the same as an actual innocent getting shot.
