      I approve of this.

The worst thing for the Democrats would be if the Tea Party movement just disappeared.
To us, it is the BEAST.

Assumptions and more assumption. Admit it, you haven't a single bit of knowledge about the guy who beat Cantor one way or the other do you? You are the problem.

I was wondering what sort of district this was taking place in. If you Goggle "representative districts in Virginia" you can find a map of Virginia districts. I was amazed by the geography of Virginia's US representative districts. They're absolute proof of political corruption in the state. The 7th district is a nearly 200 mile long elongted diagonal stretching from Culpepper nearly to Williamsburg, along its course its bent to include selected portions of Richmond's suburbs, but not enough to upset it rural dominance. Actually, with a population of about 8 million each of Virginia's 11 House districts should have a population of 700,000 +. I don't see how this district could come close to that. The 2nd district is even stranger, it basically ties Virginia Beach to Virginia's portion of the Delmarva peninisula with odd projections into Newport News and west Norfolk.

Apart from what I've read about him today, I don't know a damn thing about him. Other than of course that he's running on a strict anti-immigration platform with the vociforous support of charmers like Anne Coulter and Drudge. He's been widely described as a tea party guy, and if that's the case then it's probably safe to assume he supports many of the same utterly ridiculous ideas, especially as he was hammering Cantor about agreeing to the debt ceiling rise.

Dr. Strangelove - the gerrymandering actually cost the democrats the election. If they were more willing to accept balanced districts, they would have won.

The Republicans dictated the shape of the districts during the previous administration. You know, the ex-governor who is currently under indictment for taking bribes.

The shape of those districts has barely changed since the civil rights era which is where you can trace most gerrymandering in the country. I live in Hampton Roads, it's nothing new here.

Right, and we all know that Democrats never engage in gerrymandering themselves. The numbers are pretty clear Democrats wanted more solid districts and it cost them the house.

No. Is this an attempt at humor?

Indeed. Which is why morons like Rachel Maddow who are celebrating this have no clue what this is going to entail for their side - especially if (when?) the Republicans win the Senate this year.

She's celebrating because every one of these primaries increases the Dems chances of holding the senate.
