I would think about your stance if this is the first thing you use in defense. The better stance here would be to admit the horrible mistake and find some evidence to post that shows the Church doing something to correct it or making sure something like it doesn't happen again.
Is the Catholic church doing it now? No?

Are abortion clinics doing it now? Yes?

If it's perfectly ok for abortion clinics to simply dispose of unborn children in the trash, then I cannot see why it would be wrong for the Catholic church to bury infants and children in this manner.

It's one or the other. If we sincerely believe that these children deserve a Christian burial out of respect for their humanity, then we should be shutting down every single abortion clinic.

So which is it? Do we believe it's ok for the clinics but not for the Church? What, are Catholic babies somehow more deserving?

Also it mentions the bodies of infants - clearly they died after the event unlike BK's assertions - quite probably from poor treatment - starvation...?
Prior to the advent of sulfa, infant mortality was much higher than it is today. It's not really shocking that there would be quite a few dead infants here, nor would it be an indication of poor treatment at the time. Without the modern techniques we have today, it was the unfortunate reality of the time. Do I really have to dig up the stats to demonstrate this?

Then why are you complaining about how abortion clinics dispose of corpses? They aint even Christian...

How about shutting down the Catholic Church?

Why are we caring what non-Catholics say about the Catholic church?

Like I said, the Catholic church doesn't do this anymore. Have abortion clinics stopped? If you think it's wrong to deprive children a Christian burial then shut down all the clinics. If you think there's no problem with it, then let's dispose of the hypocrisy and get to the meat of the issue.

Do I look like a pro-abortion activist to you? I just find it odd that your 1st instinct here is to say "Well they weren't as bad as Gosnell, so I guess this conduct was OK." That strikes me as a profound cheapening of the Christian faith and in this case Catholic doctrine. Both of which would have mandated a greater level of respect be given to the remains.

There's no weakness in admitting a mistake by the agents of the Church. The spiritual weakness sets in when we turn away from the past and decide to avoid addressing it in an honest and forthright manner.

Did you start this thread? Are you JR?

As near as I can tell, JR supports abortion. So he seems perfectly ok with burning unborn children as medical waste to power his lights, but still posts this.

I guess this conduct was OK.
Please quote me where I say this is ok?

If one sincerely believed that the unborn were persons, would it not merit concern about what is happening at present? If a slave owner came to you and gave examples of freed slaves being poorly treated by their employers, what would you say to him?

So far I see a whole lot of outrage against the Catholic church, but none against the incineration of the unborn. Why is that?

No, the indication of poor treatment would be the part of the op you conveniently skipped.

Abortion and the Catholic Church are sad realities, one doesn't operate under the pretense of righteousness

Kennedy was still president when this got closed down. So. Yeah.

How is this relevant to today?

Would you consider KKK Byrd to be an effective spokesperson of the Democrat party?

Or are you one of those who believed that because LBJ passed the Civil Rights bill, that it meant that none of their pre-68 record was relevant?

A local health board inspection report from April 1944 recorded 271 children and 61 single mothers in the home. The 333 total was way above the 243 capacity of the building.

Black and white photos featuring the ostracized children from the site showed none of them smiling. The health board report described them as "emaciated," "pot-bellied," "fragile" and with "flesh hanging loosely on limbs."
Now why might that be in April of 1944? In Ireland?

Does this look emaciated to you?

                            How about this?

Infant mortality declined from 65/1000 to around 20/1000 after the introduction of Sulfa, etc.

So it, again, is not prima facie evidence that there was any maltreatment at all. 800 over 40 years would indicate that about 20 infants a year would die. If there were at capacity at 350 or so a year, that would mean about 350 children born. So, at 800 of about 14 thousand is about 57 per 1000. On the high end, but still within the range of expected infant mortality.

I don't know why y'all are engaging with Ben in his threadjack

Besides he equated the Catholic Church with doctors that practice infanticide. He literally has conceded already. So stop talking to him.
