It doesn't matter if you think you are the greatest Catholic in the world, the Pope can boot you out. So can any of the bishops.
Thank you ben, since that is exactly my point. They can, but you can't, so your opinion is meaningless.

Georgia courthouse assaulted by psycho with assault rifle, gas grenades, spike strips...

A man armed with explosives and a rifle might have entered a Georgia courthouse if not for a deputy who was wounded in a shootout with the gunman, sheriff says.

the suspect was killed by a deputy

          no reports of others killed

OH MY GOD RAH, you know what you need to do - go to your local bishop and present a hypothetical where if God commanded that either you or ben be kicked out of the catholic church, who would he choose.

Thoughts of BK's ex-communication just made me cream my pants.

Ok. So that makes your statement, "you can do whatever you like and still be Catholic," is in fact, wholly incorrect.

One, he can't assess people outside of his jurisdiction. So this wouldn't exactly be a swift move for rah as he could assess rah's situation.

If we're taking bets on who is more likely to be excommunicated, I'm betting on you.

I personally know one Catholic priest (not bishop) who would not hesitate to punch you in the face if he read your thoughts on social justice.

Catholics are real big on that. Maybe it's not the right faith for you.

In Chicago? I wouldn't be surprised. Does this 'Catholic priest' that you know support gay marriage?

As I've stated before, forcing other people to give to your causes isn't 'social justice', but fascism. If your 'causes' were truly legitimate they would attract donations without coercion.

I'd name names, but he's high profile.

I met him at a seder dinner at Rahm Emanuel's uncle's place before they moved to Houston.

There's only one comment I can recall. There was a lot of swearing. In essence, you should pay less attention to Leviticus and more to Jesus.

Don't argue with me. You chose a faith that puts a high emphasis on social justice. That's why I think you'd be happier elsewhere.

I never asked for a name. Does this 'Catholic priest' support gay marriage? Yes or no?

Why do people never seem to understand that I chose to convert TO the Catholic church.

He is not a gay marriage activist. Though he personally did not see a problem with it, politically. Religiously, he would follow church policy (i.e. if gay marriage were legal but not allowed in the church, he would not be a rebel and perform the,)

Keep in mind, I'm paraphrasing remarks I recall from an event where I was not entirely sober... 5 years ago? 6? I forget.

I can't understand it either. Christianity is big on following the law and social justice. Two things you aren't big on. Maybe this whole Jesus thing isn't for you.

Sometimes though, people say one thing in private and do other things publicly. Rahm Emanuel, for instance, seemed to be very pro-union. His mother was a union activist. But his behavior as mayor in dealings with the CPS teacher's union has been quite different.

                            Politicians suck.

If he has no personal issues with Gay marriage than he should not be a priest. Full stop.

Catholicism is big on traditional marriage and solid on opposition to abortion. Two things that I'm very happy that the church stands by.

I have a bit of a different background. I've never crossed a picket line, ever. I actually refused to do so at UBC when they picketed the classes.

He was another one of those crazy violent "sovereign citizen" nutjobs just like the Bundy guy in NV. If someone says they're a sovereign citizen it pretty much guaranty's that they're both crazy and violent.
