Me "going incognito" is not a statement I'm making about myself; it's a way for me to avoid awkward or uncomfortable social situations because of my crippling social anxiety. On days when I'm particularly afflicted by it, I won't wear my Star Wars or Star Trek shirts because I don't want people to start conversations with me about them. (I didn't buy those shirts, btw. They were bought for me by people who know I like SF but don't know that I don't want to be noticed.)

I notice people who don't dress well, and people who do. By well, I mean in cuts of clothing that suit them, or flatter them- not that are particularly fashionable or eye catching.
The only way to appear indifferent about clothing altogether is the Hindu holy man route or Diogenes in his tub. And let's face it, your neighbours won't be thrilled about those options.Vive la liberte. Noor Inayat Khan, Dachau.

I wear Adidas Sambas because they look decent but I know what I'm getting out of them, at a 55 dollar purchase. I have a familiarity with them. They might signal to other people that I'm a certain way - a way I can't define because I don't have any categorical value association with Adidas Sambas other than good value and decent longevity.
Alternately I havent purchased new clothing in a year almost - my clothes are baggy as **** as I've lost 60 lbs. I'd love to go clothes shopping for some fun new stuff thats more form fitting so my wife can cast her gaze upon me...ANYWHO...but I'm on a limited budget and the priorities in my life are not related to clothing.
Basically while I agree with the idea that we're all actors within the realm of fashion and clothing, the intensity to which individuals participate matters."I hope I get to punch you in the face one day" - MRT144, Imran Siddiqui

How? Did a particular strategy work best for you?
I'm not superfat now, but I'm really finding it tough to manage my diet and find the will to exercise. I go to work out sometimes. Though, the last time was early March.
Any strategies to deal with motivation/will power? To us, it is the BEAST.

I stopped drinking, started eating less period, and let all the hard work I did earlier pay off in regards to lifting heavy weights.
I'm not an adonis by any stretch now, no hard body here, but I definitely like how i look now.
Motivation/will power was going from "I need to keep at this 3/4 days a week for X goal" to "Go when you can, lift what you can, but at the end of the day just make sure you get some activity". I think being really set on goals and coming up short (like I do perpetually) can be a detriment to some people. Other people thrive off of it but I just get cynical and self loathing. So I change the goal to be "just move that body""I hope I get to punch you in the face one day" - MRT144, Imran Siddiqui
