If the analogy is a foot race, BK didn't even make it to the event. He tripped on his underwear while getting out of bed, fell, somehow choked on his laces, and ends up a vegetable from oxygen deprivation.
To us, it is the BEAST.

      • Because I'm on somebody else's property working for the $$$ they give me to do a job. You're a teacher, are you free to do as you please at work? Of course not.
I'm free to pray, which is the point of this thread.

I'm still not seeing how teaching the pledge isn't congruent with an American civics class. The Pledge is not the teaching of fact, its an oath children are told to recite.
Ok, and how does that answer my question that the pledge is fair game for a civics class.

What was 40-50 years ago? The Pledge hasn't changed during that time.
Kids having to recite it everyday was 40-50 years ago. You're chasing a boogeyman, Berz.

Do they recite the Constitution every day too? Or anything else?
Everyday? No, but we go over the constitution and the preamble to the declaration of independence.

Ah. So your real issue is that it mentions God. Do you have an issue with learning to recite the Declaration of Independence? The Declaration of Independence doesn't tell children to pledge their allegiance to god.
It tells them that God exists and their natural rights come from God - which is the thesis of my very first class every year.

I dont care if people are proud of coercing children into pledging allegiance to the state's god.
My job is to teach civics. You might not care, but I have to care about the things that Americans find important.

Yeah, cultural genocide... Your 2nd question makes no sense.
If they attack the Christian missions like San Antonio, are Christians entitled to engage in self-defense?

You see liberty somewhere? You were just complaining about having to pay for contraception.
Yeah, I do see liberty. And I complain about the recent laws because they strip liberty from Americans. I've been here long enough to appreciate what America was like, and I'd like to get back towards this instead of Obama's fascist crap.

And this is not a Christian nation, the 1st Amendment prohibits laws respecting an establishment of religion.
That's not what the preamble says. Moreover, the Founders argued then as now that it was essential for a civilized society to have a moral underpinning in Christianity if the republic were to survive.

As a teacher it's required that I teach what the American Founders actually believed, not just what modernists and their wishful thinking prefer were true.

A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

Well, then. You can come up with your own pledge. In the meantime, the pledge is fair games for civics courses across America.
                                I don't have a prejudice against religion
I never commented on whether or not the pledge should be taught in Civics classes. Nor do I want to come up with my own pledge when the original pledge will do just fine.
I have served my country and am still serving. You are no one to tell me about the pledge of allegiance.
