If we're talking about a regular person who struck it rich doing something, it's always luck.
Obviously, hard work can be a contributing factor. But lots of people work hard and have little to show for it. Boot-strap pulling is not a factor in success.
My new boss replaced my old keyboard and mouse with wireless ones because they're "better." The new keyboard doesn't have a standard Home/End/Insert/Delete/PageUp/PageDown panel, and my typing is much slower as a result. Life is terrible.
Tell him the new keyboard isn't ergo friendly to your hands and while you appreciate his trying to make your life better, a different keyboard would probably be better.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple
RIP Tony Bogey & Baron O
I'm only going to fight him on so many things. He's convinced I need a second monitor, for example, and I'm pouring most of my energies into preventing that from happening. At home, he uses more monitors than I have fingers, and he can barely work on the two he's forced to contend with in the office. I'm not really sure what he needs all those extra monitors for; alt-tab exists for a reason.
Maybe for some jobs. Not this one. The maximum number of windows I need to see at any one time is two, and my monitor is more than wide enough to accommodate two windows when that becomes necessary.
