  • Over her or not, that's horrible only a few months out. Nobody should have their nose rubbed in it like that. Your reaction comes off rather calm, actually. That would have made me suicidal for at least a week.

Your closest friend is clearly a big aspie, not that there's anything wrong with that.

I don't think they were intentionally rubbing my nose in it. My ex is not a terribly punctual person, and it's likely she and the new boyfriend simply got carried away and lost track of time.

As far as my closest friend: there's a lot that's not quite right with him, but he doesn't have Asperger's, no. As I recently told him when he asked, I'm not qualified to diagnose what it is he does have.

Also, never turn up early again - because if you do and there is a delay in the door being answered - you'll know why!

Sounds almost like it was done on purpose, which is a pretty bum thing to do...
Again, I very much doubt my ex did this on purpose. For the duration of our time apart, she has maintained that she wants to remain friends with me--that I'm her best friend--and that she doesn't want me gone from her life. If she genuinely believes that, I can't imagine why she would intentionally do something like this. On the other hand, I can't speak for the new boyfriend. It's certainly possible he delayed events so as to create such a scenario. I don't know him well enough to know. I hope my ex isn't dating someone who would behave thusly, but I just can't know.

        • Tell her that you want her gone from your life. Reciprocity is a prerequisite for friendship.

          • I'm not sure how that benefits anybody. We didn't have an acrimonious breakup; we just wanted different things. We still enjoy each other's company and care about each other. It seems silly to throw that away in order to save me some awkward moments.

            • It matters if it was intentional on anyone's part, I guess, but beside my point.

                    My hands - they're huge!

                    ...

I told my sister about the shower thing, and she pointed out what a terrific social faux pas it is to be still having sexytime FIVE MINUTES before a thing is to start at your place. Advertant or not, no matter who shows up for it, thoughtless and rude.

I honestly can't be sure exactly what they were doing in the shower. I didn't have my ear against the door or anything. It's quite possible they were just showering together because that's quicker than showering apart.

                          • Yeah, well, what can you do. That's not even close to the most cringe-worthy sex thing to happen to me.

It probably doesn't matter, but FWIW, have you ever tried doing it in the shower? They're really not built for that kind of thing, so it's hella awkward unless you're much more limber than (I suspect) your typical gaming-group member. I'm sure not up to it.

                              Yeah, I know, cold comfort.

                              • ...I know precisely what the logistical requirements are for sex in that particular shower. And the new boyfriend is way more fit than I am.
