I don't like the implication there. I need breaks from this place every now and then, you know!

    • Everyone ruined their reputations as scum/trolls and rallied around.

Naturally, Lori refused to recognize how well that reflects on him and how loved he is.

Well, the other possibility is a confluence of events that coincidentally coincided with your departure.

        • It is not a coincidence. That's why I didn't bother to use numbers in the proportionality explanation. For a given density, surface gravity is directly proportional to radius. It's the "for a given density" part that makes this perfect calculation not work in reality. There's no reason to expect the density to be the same and plenty of reason to expect it to be different.
And you haven't even taught him how to derive these relationships from basic principles!

                  • Stayed up stupid late playing Civ4 last night. Paying for it now. I've been learning Java and I've managed to build a Connect Four program. Still working on the AI. Trying to implement a minimax algorithm but not sure if I'm doing it correctly. Sometimes able to produce relatively intelligent AI when I fiddle with it. Other times the AI just continually drops its piece in the leftmost location, which makes me think there's some crucial variable I'm not passing correctly.

                    ...

I can't seem to get myself to go talk to my college and tell them about my issues. This is what's holding me back right now.

                    • The Sword of Islam mod is frigging awesome, BTW. I haven't played the original Civ4 in ages, I just muck around the medieval Near East trying to get a Unique Historical Victory. Failed with the Abbasids before, so now I'm trying again. Might be one of the Crusader Kingdoms next, see how much fun the Templars are to play with.

. . . you know, as long as you're staying up stupid late anyway.

                      • I'm mostly just playing regular games of BtS because I had pretty much stopped playing civ by the time it came out. The only scenario for me is the Civ2 WW2 scenario.

                          • Catherine and Bismark declared war on me right when I had finally decided to go to bed (which was still ass late), so I had to stay up to see the war through. I had the tech lead, but I was caught up doing builder things and had neglected my military for a couple thousand years. I had the money to upgrade, but I just didn't have that many units to upgrade. Fortunately I'd recently switched to Universal Suffrage so I was able to start pumping out new units relatively quickly.

Still, Bismark and I have been trading Sparta for a few turns. But my second wave just arrived and I should be able to hold the city for good now. Might have to burn a city or two of Bismark's to get him to settle down, though. When I get home from work, that is. And if I don't just take a long nap, that is.

                            • Hmm. How to psych up to talk to the college people? I got nothin'. That's hard, when you've been putting it off.

                              Ideas, peanut gallery?
