Converse All-Stars or Jack Purcells would work fine.

The new Nike's aren't horrible either (well the ones that are kind of low rise).

It's evident that your walking and running gaits are different. It's evident that shoes are designed differently based on these different gaits and it's also evident that the wear patterns on shoes will be different based on the activity you use them for.
You've provided no evidence for this.

My research is my entire life experience of wearing shoes. And yes, while working out... or "training".

I don't know if you have Decathlon shops in the US (it's a French company), but their private brand shoes and boots are surprisingly durable and comfortable.

In terms of better to worse, ideally you want separate running and walking shoes and you walk sparingly in your running shoes (like to go to a gym, for some cross-training, walking after running, etc.) and walking shoes you absolutely never run in. Next is to have running shoes that you mix run and walk in (ie- only own a pair of running shoes). See the problem I said before about different gaits wearing the shoe differently. Then the worst thing you can do is having walking shoes that you run in. I can virtually guarantee you'll have some foot or leg issue from running in walking shoes.

The issue is when you combine activities in the same pair of shoes. Like I said, you don't want to be running in your well-worn walking shoes (whether designed for running or not) because the wear and tear on those shoes will be based on your walking gait, which could be detrimental to your performance and health when you run.

I'm a fan of Reebok. I buy on 2 on 1 sales for runners. And yes, sava, it makes a difference. Never had a bad shoe with them.

And I see it's the official shoe of Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers. Sold.

It seems to me that running and walking are similar enough activities that a decent design engineer should be able to come up with a shoe that accommodates both. So maybe you have wear points on two spots. BFD.
Go run 10 miles in a pair of oxfords then and tell me how you feel.

Many modern sneakers, especially any random one for $X that looks good (ie- what Sava encourages), mightaswell be a pair of oxfords, completely designed for fashion and comfort in a sedentary lifestyle.

I'm just saying that for lower-intensity activities (which HC seems to be referencing), you don't need separate shoes for walking and running.

My only "fashion" preference is to avoid neon colors if possible. I'm 60 fer chrissakes, not 12. These days, I wear Avia crosstrainers. Used to be a dedicated Asics guy. New Balance has always been just wrong for my feet; they never feel comfortable for some reason. Back when I was a serious runner, it was usually adidas.

When I made my posts, he didn't disclose the extent of his activities. My post #20 was DanSed and more info directed to Berserker, not to HC.
